Some Cat 7 updates on my '99 Vaux 2L
Vovchandr replied to Reiver's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I'm pretty "new car" sheltered and love 7 dearly. It's always reassuring to see others share my sentiment even though they have pretty nice new alternatives in the garage (Such as the C8, rented one for a day, what a machine - just not "for me"). Connex is a nice alternative that one doesn't see everyday. I'm personally kicking around the idea of getting a 4 post. Maybe sooner than later with the potential costs going up in this political climate. -

I think it really depends on the area. I don't personally have had a lot SUV challengers, nor anybody else really for that matter. -
I just realized there's no bleeder on the rad. @SilberCan you show exactly where you bleed the system? I just remembered that vacuum filling is also an option that can be done for those that like a more violent approach. I've never tried it myself yet.

In addition to what everybody else has said here are a few points out of left field as I battled with cooling issues on my Zetec and still do to some degree 1) Is the car stock ECU or standalone? My fuel maps have a lot to do with how the car runs. I'm also running cool as of late and struggle to stay at temp. 2) For any coolant troubleshooting I recommend a see through coolant filter. Makes it much easier to troubleshoot things if you can see the flow/air issues instead of a blind system (different sizes available check yours, this is an example) https://www.amazon.com/Champion-Cooling-Systems-CCHF-1-50-Coolant/dp/B01FXRJ6R2/ref=asc_df_B01FXRJ6R2?mcid=bff87b07fc8b3a6d88619500d17debc6&hvocijid=17731782726575446717-B01FXRJ6R2-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=721245378154&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=17731782726575446717&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9004728&hvtargid=pla-2281435177898&psc=1 3) I don't believe you have a heater core but a second bleeder is always nice to have on the other end of the car to make things easier. https://www.autozone.com/cooling-heating-and-climate-control/radiator-flush-tools/p/peak-flush-and-fill-kit/525931_0_0?cmpid=LIA:US:EN:AD:NL:1000000:HRD:19489353553&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADkcoVsIMzvFnhppBa5BdOgRQ_TzF&gclid=CjwKCAjw5PK_BhBBEiwAL7GTPXxrPxxRaZOzotzMxihKuGUHMMFvUu8bo1NBRgUBaPIVdhJPqlltahoCGK4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds 4) Rent a coolant pressure tester from Advance or autozone (free with collateral to borrow it). Gotta make sure system is "snug" before further troubleshooting. You should hold 15 to 20 pounds for hours or longer. Quick and easy test 5) Are you using one of these? They make bleeding a lot easier tool. I had to make an adapter for mine not sure if you'll have better luck https://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Spill-Coolant-Funnel-Kit/dp/B089YHW5HR/ref=asc_df_B089YHW5HR?mcid=afb6c6b9c9633802bad331df1a0d9588&hvocijid=3054922127020583502-B089YHW5HR-&hvexpln=73&tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=721245378154&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=3054922127020583502&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9004728&hvtargid=pla-2281435181178&psc=1

It works the same way as to why window salesmen won't leave your house after an estimate without making a sale no matter how cheap they have to go. I assume you have prime to qualify for these offers so they already are having monthly indefinite payment out of you as long as they keep you happy. Early AM truck is already paid for and will be going out regardless whether you ordered or not and will very likely be by your area for other houses. They do use a lot of robots in packaging but I'm not sure on the details for what goes on inside the warehouse. Keeping you as a customer and keeping the habit of you coming back is worth a loss even if they happen to acquire one for some purchases. Loss leaders are a thing that enormous corporations can afford to keep customers. Getting new customers isn't free either, advertising is an enormous cost that they pay even if they are the leader in the market. Final note is I don't even believe Amazon store is their big profit area. I believe AWS (amazon web services) is one of the biggest incomes, among God knows what else they might have their hands into that could be quite lucrative.

Fair guess, but my gauge should be solid 40 while running, which is target and I've replaced many lines since purchase. I dont think a leak is my problem. Certainly shouldnt affect only one cylinder.

True, but diagnostic tools are good to own, especially with a number of vehicles between myself and my family. Depending how hard it is to setup might be a good thing to run/test and clean every once in a while.

Should be high impedance from looking at my notes from last measurements. Dirt is a possibility

That location on the dash is typically for a foglight but the icon is not something I've ever seen before. Looking like a brake pedal I can only assume it's a brake fluid switch test which is something regular cars have but in different place with different icon. -
Not certain on that regard. The place I linked was one of the few that I saw that do all glass not just for cars but for home and business as well. Assumption with that is that they can cut any size and any thickness, while auto places are likely to order made units instead of doing cuts. Best bet is to give a quick call, tell them you have a flat piece of glass you'd like cut for a European car and see if they can match it if you bring it in. They will either say yes to having that capability or no. If you find a place and discussion that works, please update us here because there's a number of members that are interested in same service and wondering what it costs. I never use my windshield but long term it likely needs a replacement as well. Its all sorts of pitted (thats why I tried to order two). If youd like width measurement I can measure my cracked unit thickness next time I'm at the storage location.

UK is right for not shipping to US. I've had a pro distributor try to ship me two and they both showed up destroyed (one replacement for the other). If you want heating element in it still you need to go OEM If you just want a piece of glass (I dont think you need windshield heat in AZ) any local glass place should be able to cut you one with little fuss. You just have to pop open your windshield apart to give them something to trace/use as reference. Could try these guys https://clearcutglass.com/about-clear-cut-glass/ 7888 N Glen Harbor Blvd. Suite 100 Glendale, AZ 85307 602.354.5664

Is that SV? -
Yeah "real" machines are solid, I certainly don't need for a pro grade for a rare occasional use. Definitely wanted to run the test to help partition out misc issues I have. If one isn't cycling right I'd rather find this out from the getgo than chase a tail around for a while. I know one of my cylinders runs colder than the rest and this has moved from cylinder to cylinder looking back at the thread and the pictures. Hard to pinpoint exactly what has caused it to move with all the changes I've done overtime. Maybe I'm overthinking this. 2021 - cylinder 4 I believe it's on cylinder 2 now. I'll double check next time I run it.
