  1. Guys...I have a heat shield for the Caterham 4 into 1 that amazingly fell off the first time I drove the car after passing the inspection. I can lend it to any interested party. Y'all know where to find me.
  2. Bart...too late, just put yours in the mail today (yours was in the "got to dig up their address from somewhere in my archives" category). Have a safe trip and best my best to Nancy. -A
  3. Skip...I think I might have sent a dupe out to you today. Send me an email to tell me what was in the first mailing...pretty sure it was TOTD sticker and not the new USA7s.org ones. But I could be very wrong.
  4. NJers...if you haven't read my blog @ gardenstatesevens.org, you probably should check out the earlier posts where I document my trials and tribs...
  5. Whew! Thanks for the updates fellas...still have a few outstanding, but will contact those guys directly to get the info I need (didn't get datasheets for everyone). Kyle, I'm up in Frenchtown and drive through Hopewell nearly every morning to bring my kids to school in Princeton. I'll be sure to chime in full on that thread...or hit me up via email. Depending on your schedule, I could meet you for coffee some morning after I drop the kids off. Happy to be back on the forum, and welcome all snide but well-intentioned commentary! I did one of the Facebook "25 random things" exercises (as of yet unpublished) and Se7ens are mentioned in at least 2 of my 25!
  6. Tom- I'm planning on being there Thurs through Sunday. Figured we'd leave the NE area on Wed early and overnight enroute...could be convinced to leave on Monday. I'm sure I'll have an SUV full of stuff...coming without family, but perhaps with a friend who has an Esprit. -Al

    Carlisle 2009

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again, as well...
  8. Folks- I have laid lower than low for the past few months. Mostly because I was trying to focus on keeping my business going (we're hanging in there!). But also because without my old car, I quite honestly feel like a bit of an outsider. And finally, there is the matter of the stickers and ID cards. With the exception of a very small handful of people, all of the stuff was sent out in 2008...in two batches, the last being in early Dec. I asked for and received confirmation emails from people in each batch....but the number of confirms I got was surprisingly low. I assumed it was because people were busy or did not read that part of the cover letter. Roman, yours definitely went out in early Dec. Later today, I'm going to post specifically about this matter and ask people to chime in who did receive materials. I had my return address on them, and paid postage in person after weighing each one (an additional sticker or two made the difference between postal classes)....and did not receive a single one back. I apologize for the delay with all of this and take personal responsibility for it. Rest assured that I printed the cards and paid for all the postage out of my own pocket — my "penance" if you will for being slackadasical on the execution of the material distribution. Anyway, I'm back. And booked for Birmingham at the end of May. If you all cross your fingers, perhaps even with another Se7en. My girls have grown by leaps and bounds, for those of you who've met them. I'll probably bring them to Carlisle again. Best, Al Navarro Erstwhile Club President and Current Secretary P.S. Most of you know how to reach me directly...but if you don't it's al at mintadv dot com.
  9. Wot. Did the "delete errant double post" button disappear during my time away from this place?
  10. Guys- I titled/registered a 2004 Caterham Superlight R a few years back...I went for collector car status (it has a mileage limitation). I will write on this thread when I get a chance. It is not a very straightforward process....though there was some legislation set for review this week (I got a Factory Five email about it) that may change things for the better. -Al
  11. Or perhaps, at the very least, a nice New Year's resolution.

    LOG 29

I think we do make it a 2 dayer for sanity's sake...at least on the way down. On the way back, people can leave whenever they want and drive at their own pace. Count me in +1. I doubt Laura will come, but I could probably drag a buddy.

    LOG 29

FWIW, I am planning on going, car or no car....hopefully with car. Caravan from the Northeast? Can someone run point on organizing that?
  14. Kelly and Bruce, you have email.
  15. No pricing guidelines yet?
  16. Kelly- IMHO, the best source for info on these cars, at least stateside, is John Donohoe. His site is simplesevens.org. I'm sending you a PM now. -Al
  17. Finally!!!! Congrats. I'm sure the new owner will "out" himself eventually....
  18. Update! The bad news is that I am still sitting on about 2/3 of the packets. I was not really happy with the member card solution we had (first from a design perspective, then from a printing/lamination POV), and had gotten the 1/3 done with stickers only. But since it's been delayed so much already, I figured that I better get COMPLETE kits out to the folks who have been patiently waiting. So that's been the delay. The good news is I've gotten off my arse and found an acceptable card solution. And I've enlisted my wife to help get out the complete kits (and cards) out between now and Thanksgiving. So, please start checking you mail box for a white cardboard mailer over the next two weeks (including transit time). When you receive your packet, please send me an email to al at mintadv dot com - with the subject line: "USA7s Materials Received". I apologize for the delay and thank you all for your patience again. I will subsidize the cost of the mailing as penance!
  19. I think the plate mount that was on my old car was amazing. I'll try to dig up pictures and post. Morgan took it off already, rebel that he is....
  20. When it was first listed, I made an inquiry about the engine...they report that they think is the original block. I have not confirmed with the power that be (JWW, of course). This car is detailed very well, and I assume bolted together well...but little things here and there bother me (I've been lurking over at simplesevens.org a bit too much?): rear fenders, dash, wheel, wheels...all of which could be "fixed" of course, but to spend all that money and still have to fix stuff to make it truly correct is a pain. BTW, the bidding ended. Did someone buy it via ebay or was a side deal cut?
  21. I totally would have bummed a ride with Karl (the seven owner), but was shooting a wedding with Laura all day. Believe me, I thought of you guys....
  22. Beluga- Welcome to the forum. IIRC, you have to get an SB100 exemption to run most modern Se7ens out in CA. I think getting a pre-smog titled car helps out a lot (it's covered by vintage standards so you can run whatever engine is period correct). Note that I am an East Coaster, so I could be VERY WRONG. I'm sure some of the California contingent will chime in. There is also a California Caterham Club forum that you should check out if you haven't already: http://www.californiacaterhamclub.com/ -Al
  23. Tom, what Jon down in your area? Who's got an SV down there?
  24. I'd never vote for that guy. Way too power hungry...:jester:
  25. Kevin- Just send me your next destination info (where you will be Thurs.)...I have none here at work, but will shoot them over fed ex (my cost!) tomorrow. -Al
