  1. wonder how much one of those costs... he was looking for something reasonably affordable.
  2. look under the passenger side dash where the fuses and relays are. Pull a couple of relays and check for corrosion. If you see any, don't let it stop you from buying the car, but be aware that electrical gremlins will show up. I've never owned a caterham, but am aware of at least 3 of them that have had corrosion in fuses and relays cause minor problems. Popped rivets are not big deal. Look at the oil pan for signs of any big hits... my .02
  3. how much power are you planning to pass to the wheels? vette transaxles are pretty big. there are several porsche choices depending on power level that might work- from 924 to flipped 911 transaxles. Then there are several configurations of corvair/pontiac tempest variants. Those things are pretty light if I recall correctly. it opens up alot of room in the footwell area, but you have to consider that hip area is in short supply in a seven too, and that's where the transaxle will live because you will sit pretty far back in the car. For most of us, the tunnel is barely big enough for the driveshaft near the back.
  4. I think he is looking for a rear transaxle... i.e. tranny in the back. no?
  5. I love that there is even controversy about the title of the section
  6. lol ban the periods (notice none used here)
  7. Here's to a speedy recovering
  8. Guys, Jean Jobs is doing a production run of Seven wall clocks. The design is attached... Per his email, this is the description: I did a group buy last time... anyone interested in taking the lead this time? It is a fair bit of work to repackage and ship (price does not include shipping inside the US, nor any markup of any kind). If you have any questions, post it here and Jean will answer.
  9. OMG. Very sorry to hear that His handle here was rv-4mike. RIP Mike.
  10. actually, the article sounds like Maryland is taking issue with the factory tail light, but if you scroll down, it looks like the guy smoked the lens.

  13. I don't even have enough time to build a cowl Motor upgrade definitely not happening anytime soon. and if I go to the trouble, I will just go with a stroker LS2 or LS3 and keep it all throttle

  15. Skip, clearly you will drive closer to the limit with a new larger set of balls
  16. Just dropping by to say this section is rockin'
  17. They're also readily available used. At the time I bought my LS1, LS2 had just come out, so LS1's were still the top dog in the used engine market. Even with that, I only paid $4300 for complete engine (intake, exhaust, mounts, accessories, harness, electronics, and aftermarket chassis mating harness), transmission, driveshaft - and that was a little high because I did it at a one stop shop. LS1 is like $1500 now.
  18. It really is usable, and more importantly, it really is FUN - that's why I have the car - FUN. If you have 600hp, and still plan on using 7" wide rims in the back, yeah, I can see where it's a problem. Add the right tire package, and the car is completely controllable. I don't have quite that much power, but punching it in 2nd, the tires go into a slow spin as the car accelerates. I don't just smoke the tires in an out of control burnout. There are a few members here who have gotten rides in my car, and a couple who have driven it. I think you will find the consensus is the fun factor is high, and the car can put all the horses to the ground just fine. I admit that given equal drivers and equal tuning time, my car will not be as good in an autox setting as a 200hp Caterham due to its wider stance, but I bet on a road course, it won't even be close - in my favor.
  19. 480 feels just fine to me - I bet 550 won't feel much different. You can still go full throttle, just can't jab at it.
  20. I ran into John Cummins at Summit Point a few years ago.
  21. Skip, Dennis was at Carlisle with a LSx powered Stalker. It sounded sooo familiar when he fired it up. I did ask him how much the car weighed, and from what I recall it was like 150 lbs lighter than mine, but DO NOT quote me on that as I'm not sure about that number.
  22.
  23. because 7 8 9 :leaving:
