  3. apparently it does not work with the component we use for the forum If you go to "http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMVybCOn-dw#t=3m10s" without the quotes, you'll see what I mean
  4. you can deeplink a video, meaning your link can go to a specific part. for example, here I'm jumping to the 3 min 10 sec part of the video by adding #t=3m10s at the end of the link:
  5. tested the backup camera today... First, wanted to make sure my $3 home made mount was stiff enough. I made it with simply wrapping a piece of aluminum around a roll bar tube half way, a couple of cuts here and there, 2 hose clamps to clamp in place. Here is a pic of it off the car. Purpose of the drive was to make sure it's stiff enough. I hit whatever bumps I could find, but with the threat of rain, did not venture to far from the house. Still, the mount seems to not have any shakes. Super boring video: Still can't figure out if the left/right thing is right, but I think it is.
  6. Let's see... I'd like to see at least a 4 way between me, Bob, Kevin, and Rod at the drag strip. I doubt if any of us can hang with with Kevin at a road course... too much experience and sorting out on the car.
  7. heh, GM quality control ROFL. Yes, it's a backup camera, so everything is flipped. I'm actually standing on the driver's side of the car. Don't ask me why backup cameras do that. I'm a cheap bastard, so this is a budget setup for getting multiple vid images. My capture device is an AIPTEK HD 720 camera. It's a combination camcorder, camera, mp3 player, etc... It's not a high end camera, but has a few important features that I really care about: It accepts external audio/video, records to solid state SD cards, and is cheap at $108 from amazon. The quad mux I bought off ebay a couple of years ago. believe it or not it does not have a brand name on it. The model number is HA 402 PX. Important features is that it's compact, and runs on 12V. Very easy to use. I think that was about $100 too. The backup cam is a cheap ebay / amazon purchase. I think like $40. It includes IR LEDs for night vision. Again, 12 V unit. I have 2 CCD bullet cams coming. you'll see the vids when I get them. That's about it.
  8. just in time for the driving season, i'm finally getting around to mounting my cameras, getting the camcorder setup, etc... I have 2 bullet cams on order that are not here yet, so for now, I'm just playing around with 2 backup cameras that I have laying around This video shows the 4 to 1 mux I'm using to capture multiple bullet cams in its various modes. I will probably run it in one main screen cam with 2 PIP - one showing behind, and if I can make readable, another one showing my gauge display. The distance markers on the vid are built into the backup cam, and I'll have to calibrate them with the camera position.
  9. those reflectors should help, but if you REALLY want to cut the buffeting back, I think the screen needs to come lower. I think one of the causes for the buffeting is the wind hits the rear fenders straight on, and a portion of it comes into the cabin. Just my .02...
  10. Rod. your car is looking very classy
  11. but this one had me rolling
  12. I love your solutions... "My exhaust is too loud, so I'm gonna buy a turbo" LOL Mine was too quiet, so I did heads, cam, and long tube headers.
  13. boy, I second that. Treasurer's job isn't nearly as involving as what Al has been doing (not his secretary hat, but the marketing / organizing hat).
  14. I think it's a good thing for new blood to take over
  15. I think the turbo hayabusa powered westfield in the UK was running low 9s
  16. heh, 9.1 @ 169. I was off on the trap speed, but not too bad on the ET

    DeDion

Dermot, the older (C2 - C4) vette setup is similar to jag, but does not have the inboard brakes. I do not have an opening tall enough in my frame to support upper and lower Aarms. I'm hoping that the Jag/old-vette setup that uses the the half shaft as the upper link would fit. Is your Jag at a place where we can pull a wheel off? I can drive the rotus there and do some side-by-side measurements.
  18. not sure, for all I know it could just be a graph - but those numbers are consistent with something like an 8 or 9 second quarter mile car. figure 2.5 to 60 3.5 sec to 130 another 2-3 seconds to 155-160. adds up to 8 or 9 seconds @ 155 or so, which would be typical.
  19. since even car related threads are political these days, let's lighten the mood: ----------------------------------------------------- During one of her daily classes, a teacher trying to teach good manners, asked one of her students, "Michael, if you were on a date having dinner with a nice young lady, how would you tell her that you have to go to the bathroom?" Michael said, "Just a minute I have to go pee." The teacher responded by saying, "that would be rude and impolite. What about you, Sherman, how would you say it?" Sherman said, "I am sorry, but I really need to go to the bathroom. I'll be right back." "That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the word bathroom at the dinner table. And you, little Johnny, can you use your brain for once and show us your good manners?" "I would say, 'Darling, may I please be excused for a moment? I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine, whom I hope to Introduce you to after dinner'."
  20. TT Lambo... 60 - 130 MPH in 3.5 seconds. http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/lamborghini/170313-v-box-data-60-130-underground-racing-tt-gallardo.html
  21. Alright... locking my own thread. It wasn't about Obama, but clearly it's gone really off topic. I agree with KitKat about keeping comments about Bush / Obama, etc... out of it. I don't really have any problems with issue discussions as long as some restraint is shown to refrain from name calling etc...
  22. The problem is not something that economists can solve on their own. As you point out, all the shell games are just buying us time. In a sense, we're seeing the decline of our standard of living due to globalization. I don't know if it's good or bad, but it's inevitable that poor (but hard working countries) will continue to move up, and we'll move down - unless there is a game changer.
  23. so, today there was a flyover of a 747 escorted by a F16 over the NY skyline, causing some buildings to evacuate. The purpose was for a photo shoot over the Statue of Liberty. I wonder if they considered PhotoShop???
