hello all, im posting now more out of frustration and the need to vent man than anything else. beware... :rant: for those who dont know of my 7 it is a world class motorsports ultralite with a 2001 miata engine, the only one of its kind. i have had my 7 for since 2007 and when i bought it the car came with many problems because it was poorly assembled by the original owner. i have since corrected and upgraded almost every system in the car. one of the recent (2 years and 200 miles ago) upgrades done is custom turbo system. there were many issues with fabrication, and fitment but we managed to put it all in. i put the car away about 2 years ago because the injectors i was using (430cc supra) were giving us tuning troubles, i had a crack in my exhaust manifold, and i had serious issues starting the car (poor coding in the hydra ems version 2.5). fast forward to this spring. i upgraded my hydra ems from 2.5 to 2.7 to fix my starting issues, purchased a set of 600cc injectors that there was already a great fuel map for, and fixed my exhaust manifold. i put this all together and go to start the car (2 years not running) and it starts right up YAYAYAYAYAY starting issue solved... not so fast. within a few revolutions its only firing on 2 cylinders (3/4). speaking with the tuner and flying miata over the past month and a half i check every possible thing. plugs, coils, battery, injectors, harness with no issue found. i end up sending the computer to flying miata for testing and its working properly as well. today the tuner drove 2 hr to me to work on the car. after confirming some basics we find that the hydra is not reading cam position correctly. we swap the cam and crank sensors out of the miata that he drove up with no effect. as it sits: cam and crank are properly timed (as they should be since i drove the car like this when i parked it) sensors for cam and crank work harness leading to the sensors test out working the ecu that the harness connects to is also working (in flying miatas test car) sooooooooooooo at this point the next time we can meet is in 2 weeks. if not fixed then we will tow it to shop 2 hr away. :banghead:

thanks mike. tomorrow 9am i will do battle with the 7 again. i cant wait to get her on the road. so much new gear (new suspension, new wheel/tire, working turbo system, big injectors, etc) on her that i really want to feel out. once she is running the next thing i will be doing is replacing those craptastic glasspacks with hushpowers so i will be able to go for a drive without my head hurting. so close!!!

7 is still down. to upset at it to come and say hi. the tuner is making a house call tomorrow as a last ditch effort! wish me luck!

hi, im a vendor at a car show this upcoming weekend and my trailer has fallen through. can anyone lend/rent me their trailer for the weekend? tow vehicle is a 2006 vw v10 touareg with class 3 hitch rated at 14,400lb towing capacity and prodigy brake controller. the only driver would be me and i have about 20,000 miles + experience towing over the past 10 years. the cargo is NEW car parts so the trailer will come back as clean if not cleaner then i get it. I AM IN THE PHILADELPHIA AREA sorry, an open trailer will not work! help!

hello! i registered my ultralite in 2007 just as the regs were changing. currently you will need to go to a body shop that can handle "reconstructed titles". when there you will need to pass all the criteria of the drive train you used. for example, if you have a 2001 miata motor you will need to have everything a 2001 miata has (obd2 scan port, bumpers, mirrors, turns, etc). i snuck in by registering my 7 ad a 2007 lotus (no model name). someone up in harrisburg was sleeping and i got my title back a ok say LOTUS. i found a friend who "inspected" my car under a dealer tag and since the mileage was under 5000 i avoided the obd2 smog/check engine light check. i would recommend trying this process first because i cant imagine a 7 with all the hardware your doner car will have. best of luck, Roman

if ur looking for good insurance i recommend safeco. im setup for $44,000 agreed value and i pay $480 a year (im 26 years old) and its the only car i have with the company. this is not the daily driver policy but it works great!

you sat in my ultralite the other day. the pass side is 16" and the driver is 15". the max to "fit" a 15 was about a 34 waist and thats a TIGHT fit. 16 for you should be perfect.

if i recall i heard one person call out that they got burnt by the side pipes. in my case i luck out with having exhaust down the center channel.
