  1. Well, this is going to suck if the two new Sevens can't be here for us to drool over. But, hey its a party, we can make do if we have to. Nine people have already said they will be here, all but one are current owners of Sevens. If the weather is good we will be in Seven Heaven.
  2. I think I can accommodate that as long as you are not trying to jump it onto the roof of my shop.
  3. I sent this out in an email to all the Seven owners/former owners I know of in the area. Anyone else who lives in the area or happens to be passing through the Denver area is also welcome to join us. -------------- We have two new Sevens about to take their first drives and one newly purchased one here in Colorado. Its looking like March 21st is the only chance to get them together along with those already on the road. I will host a party Sunday the 21st, probably in the early afternoon for all interested owners/want to be owners, friends and spouses at my shop in Erie. Tom Meacham's (Alaskossie) new Caterham Executive Superlite and Danny Hart's (The Goat) new Birkin are the two new ones and Mike O'Neil (Mighty Mike) has recently purchased a pre-loved Birkin. He drove it from Texas to Colorado a few weeks ago in some pretty miserable weather. I'll send out more details as the date gets a little closer. I'm sure there are some other Sevens in the area, if you know of any I missed please pass this on to them and also send me their email addresses. I know of Howard in Ft. Collins but don't have any contact info for him. Please RSVP so I know how many people to plan for. The long term forecast is showing the 21st to be a decent day. Pray for sunshine and warm temperatures, otherwise, bundle up for the drive. The shop is heated so no problem there.
  4. Sunday the 21st it is. I'd be happy to host a gathering of the faithful. Danny, what time do you expect to be here? The long range weather report showed good weather for the Denver area. Getting from Gypsum to Denver might be a problem.

I'd like to hear what the HALOsonic sounds like. The Tesla I drove last summer was entirely too quiet.

  10. I set up an event for the Lotus and Miata clubs at the Wings Over the Rockies Air and Space museum last week (http://www.wingsmuseum.org/). It happened that besides the regular exhibits there were displays from many of the local model airplane clubs. They were flying some of the RC planes inside the hanger. There were three miniature airplane engines, two radials and one inline four. They started and ran one of the radials and the inline engine. It's amazing to see something so scaled down looking so perfect and running as well.

  18. Team US F1 shuts down operation By Jonathan Noble and Dieter Rencken. Tuesday, March 2nd 2010, 19:29 GMT Team US F1's Formula 1 hopes appeared to be over on Tuesday, with high level sources revealing to AUTOSPORT that the outfit has now effectively closed down. Against the backdrop of weeks of uncertainty about the future of the American team, which had been struggling to get a car ready for the start of the season, sources have revealed team personnel have now been informed they are no longer required as the operation could not continue in its present guise. AUTOSPORT understands that shortly before lunchtime, production manager Dave Skog informed those staff who had remained at the team during its recent troubles that they were being put on unpaid leave - even though they remain technically employed. That move, which has not yet been officially confirmed, effectively brings an end to the F1 dreams of team principal Ken Anderson and sporting director Peter Windsor who had hoped to create a genuine American grand prix team unless a fresh cash injection can be found. It is understood that neither Anderson nor Windsor were present at the factory while the announcement was made, and neither was available for comment about the latest situation. Calls to the factory switchboard have also gone unanswered, with a message stating that the number is temporarily not working. The failure of Team US F1 to make it onto the grid means that there is now a vacancy for the Serbian outfit Stefan Grand Prix, which has been sitting on the sidelines for several months. US F1 will need to be officially withdrawn from the championship if Stefan GP is going to have a chance of getting a late entry - although such a situation may be possible if FIA technical delegate Charlie Whiting's inspection visit to the American team's factory last week showed that the outfit was not capable of competing. It is also not clear what US F1 investor Chad Hurley will now do. The American YouTube co-founder, who had invested in the team, has been linked with potential deals with both Stefan GP and Campos Meta in recent weeks - and it is possible he may choose to remain in F1 through involvement with another team.
  19. Gert, I lived in Newhall for 6 years prior to moving to Colorado. It certainly wasn't all Mexican then, not even close. Seemed like there were more Asians than Mexicans. There was even an excellent German restaurant and deli at that time with real German beer. I loved that place.

  21. Here's another Bugatti Tank. Read the story about how Bob Sutherland came to build this replica. I met Bob a few times and saw his tank at one of his annual charity car shows. http://www.sportscarmarket.com/Profiles/2000/December/Etceterini/
  22. Al, If you live anywhere close to Denver, you are welcome to do a test fit in my Caterham SV. I suspect most anyone with an SV or the others mentioned above would be happy to let you sit in their cars to check out the fit. You might even get a ride. Check out as many different configurations as you can until you find the one that works best for you. The Caterham SV is 4" wider and 3" longer in the cockpit. I've had a 6' 6" person in the passenger seat and he said he was comfortable.
  23. I was at the LOCO (Lotus Colorado) meeting this evening. One of our members is William Taylor who writes and publishes many of the Lotus books, most recently one on the Evora. He has great contacts inside Group Lotus, was allow access to the Evora as it was designed, engineered and built. He spent a little time on the subject of how Lotus Formula 1 acquired the Lotus name and what the relationship is now. He also commented on the Indy 500 connection and he said the he isn't sure which entity is actually proposing to do the Indy car series as from what he hears it could be either one. He "thinks" it is Lotus the car manufacturer but wonders about the Lotus/Toyota engine road car connection vs running Honda engines in the Indy cars. He is also quite disappointed that it appears the F1USA team is going down the tubes as he had a commitment from them to write a book on that effort.
  24. Mazda, What car is that in the picture?
