  1. Better get it one of those plug in devices that makes it sound like a big V8.
  2. Already sold for $2000. Someone got a killer deal on the car. The low mileage Miata engine and transmission are worth most of the price paid.
  3. Well, they did de-tune it from 2,200 HP for this run. I think this approaches the limit on the "Too much horsepower is just about right" saying.
  4. It wouldn't let me embed the link so go to YouTube and search for "Ferrari 599XX lap of the nurburgring"

    The F2 crash

Watching the rear view video I am impressed how fast that airborne car got over two others, quite a speed differential when he got launched. Hope no one was injured.
  6. I use them on the intercooler plumbing on my Caterham and Miata turbocharged engines. Just make sure they have rounded edges as the sharp edged ones can cut the hoses. I use regular screw type clamps on the coolant system hoses.
  7. I think he is approaching "too much horsepower is just about right" status.

  11. Actually, that one is a spare I bought used because it was a little larger in diameter than the original that came with the car. Before I got it installed another larger one came along and that is the one I am using. All I had to do was pull it off the peg it was hanging on on the wall and take the pictures. Counting the extra Miata steering wheels there are 5 steering wheels hanging on that peg. If anyone wants to buy it they can have it for $50 plus shipping.
  12. Mike, There should be no need to remove the steering column as it is solid and the horn wire does not run through it. If your steering wheel looks like the one below there should be a slider ring under the steering wheel hub with a spring loaded contact on the back of the hub to rub against it. Remove the circle of screws on the front of the wheel to get the horn button out of the way, then remove the nut holding the wheel on the column and pull the steering wheel hub off. You may need to put the steering wheel back on the hub without the horn button to get enough leverage to get the hub off the column. Rock the wheel side to side while pulling back on the wheel. The most common problem is a dirty slider ring, clean it off and the end of the spring loaded peg on the back of the steering wheel. Sometimes the spring can get weak or the peg dirty where it slides into the hub preventing it from making contact with the ring.
  13. That was quick, congrats. Did it go to someone on this forum? If not please tell the new owner about the forum and invite him/her to join us.
  14. Hey Hank, what do you think of that? Must not have been a hairdresser driving that one.
  15. An Edsel Ranchero at a small car show in Longmont, CO yesterday. A little searching on the internet found a couple of obvious conversions from Edsel station wagons but this one looks more like a conversion of a Ford Ranchero with Edsel front sheet metal and station wagon tail lights. Its the best looking Edsel I have ever seen. It made the '57 Ford Ranchero parked next to it look very blah. The third picture shows how it looked when it was found in a field.

  17. A disaster looking for a place to happen?
  18. Either the lower bushing came out really easy or wasn't installed in the first place. The lock lug is positioned between the two bushings (at least it was on my car).
  19. Troy, Welcome to the forum. Congratulations on your new car. You are going to have a blast with it. Are you going to license it for the street?

    Cowboy Story

A successful rancher died and left everything to his devoted wife. She was a very good-looking woman and determined to keep the ranch, but knew very little about ranching, so she decided to place an ad in the newspaper for a ranch hand. Two cowboys applied for the job. One was gay and the other a drunk. She thought long and hard about it, and when no one else applied she decided to hire the gay guy, figuring it would be safer to have him around the house than the drunk. He proved to be a hard worker who put in long hours every day and knew a lot about ranching. For weeks, the two of them worked, and the ranch was doing very well. Then one day, the rancher's widow said to the hired hand, "You have done a really good job, and the ranch looks great. You should go into town and kick up your heels." The hired hand readily agreed and went into town one Saturday night. One o'clock came, however, and he didn't return. Two o'clock and no hired hand. Finally he returned around two-thirty, and upon entering the room, he found the rancher's widow sitting by the fireplace with a glass of wine, waiting for him. She quietly called him over to her.. "Unbutton my blouse and take it off," she said. Trembling, he did as she directed. "Now take off my boots." He did as she asked, ever so slowly. "Now take off my socks." He removed each one gently and placed them neatly by her boots. "Now take off my skirt." He slowly unbuttoned it, constantly watching her eyes in the fire light. "Now take off my bra.." Again, with trembling hands, he did as he was told and dropped it to the floor. Then she looked at him and said, "If you ever wear my clothes into town again, you're fired."
  22. In the new issue, there is an article on Jon Winterhalter's scratch built Atom and another one on Keith & Janel Tanner's run in the Targa Newfoundland rally in their Miata. It's a little late, as its been about 19 months since the rally. Contrats to John, Keith and Janel.
  23. It has made 2,200 hp but they detuned it a bit for the standing mile run for reliability.
  24. This could only happen in the Peoples Republic of Boulder, Colorado. http://cbs4denver.com/local/plane.boulder.crash.2.1662161.html Update: the pilot has returned (minus the black bag?) and is talking to the police and FAA.
  25. 1,900 HP at 41 psi boost will do that if you have something aerodynamic like a Ford GT. http://www.heffnersperformance.com/miami_hofman_mile.htm
