  3. Happy to be of assistance.
  4. The shower doors in my bathroom were the unframed hanging type. I replaced with the same, the glass tech didn't suggest the framed type.
  5. Mike, That's the best laugh I've had in a couple of weeks. Fortunately I had just finished my business so it didn't literally scare the sh!t out of me but it did truly get my adrenaline flowing. I thought someone had shot at me.
  6. Tempered glass does that sometimes. I was sitting on the toilet one day in California. There was a very loud bang and the glass shower door a couple of feet from me disintegrated. I thought is was a gunshot, perhaps from a drive by shooter and bailed out the door on to the bedroom floor. When I got up there was no hole in the wall or the window and no temperature changes had taken place. When I took the frame to a glass shop to get the pane replaced the owner told me it was not an uncommon thing with tempered glass. He said there is a lot of energy stored in the glass when tempered and sometimes the glass just gives way.

  8. That's what you call a blunt force instrument.
  9. Most of them will be jealous of Tom's V8 Miata. Weight increases less than 200 lb and balance shifts less than 1%. Suspension and brakes are upgraded to handle the extra speed and power. HP (in Tom's particular car) goes from 155 to 525! The FM conversions are extremely well thought out and executed. Here's a link to the FM build log for Tom's car. http://www.flyinmiata.com/V8/qship/index.php?UID= One magazine editor stated after driving an FM converted car that it was the best car he had ever driven, period.

  11. Congrats! Let the (legal) fun begin.
  12. Under Colorado law for kit cars, the kit and the drivetrain must be bought from different sources. It can be assembled by anyone including the seller of the kit or drivetrain. At one point Rocky Mountain Sports Cars sold the kits, Caterham USA sold the engines and transmissions and many were assembled to turnkey cars by RMSC. Later on, Caterham USA sold the kits and gave buyers a part number to buy a special crate engine from Ford that had all the unnecessary parts removed that otherwise would have to have been removed and discarded. The necessary replacement parts came as part of the kit.

    Kinda ironic, eh?
  16. That's true but you are paying a $3 - 4K premium to do it that way.
  17. My Caterham has never sat for more than a month without being driven. We get enough warm and sunny days in the winter that I never put it in long term storage. Its supposed to hit 61F today and if it will start I will be taking it out for a blat shortly. I had a battery shutoff but it failed and left me stranded after a couple of years and I haven't replaced it. I guess it's time for a new battery. While looking for a PC680 I came across this one, slightly larger and 3 lb heavier but 20AH and 330CC. http://www.batterymart.com/p-Big-Crank-ETX18L-Battery.html Anyone had any experience with it?
  18. Thanks for the pictures. I'll keep my old style round Caterham badge and maybe see if I can pick up a few extras.
  19. My Caterham has an Odyssey PC680 battery that is not holding a charge for very long. I measured the dark current at 5.6 ma, which I think is well below the normal for cars. The battery is seven years old but I have had friends get 10 years out of this particular model. It has had a preventative charge two or three times a year with a battery charger specifically designed for AGM batteries. Anyone have experience with the battery life of the PC680?
  20. Does anyone have a closeup picture of the new Caterham badge/logo?

  22. Utah used to have an option of the firing squad or lethal injection. The firing squad was outlawed in 2004. Five rounds to the heart was quick and effective. IIRC there were always far more volunteers for a place on the squad than were needed. http://news.discovery.com/history/gardner-firing-squad-execution.htm

  24. They come with a standard center mirror. The car in the auction had an aftermarket panoramic type center rear view mirror the last time I saw it. It appears that the mirror has been removed somewhere along the line. http://www.mirrorsforsevens.com You can see it clamped to the top of the windscreen in this photo. http://i1261.photobucket.com/albums/ii584/scannon929/photo2_zps93da4ace.jpg
  25. What does that NACA duct on the bonnet feed its air to? Footwell, engine air intake?
