  1. Comming to you, from the paridise island of new matinsville,,,what a day we had yesterday!! We all got caught in a torential downpour, electrical problems with the Southwind 7 made starting a spuratic affair, of course we cant forget hitting the "whistling pig",,,,which was then again run over by those who followed, but we were able to rebend the front spoiler...we had a wonderful lunch at the rusty rooster, and left without making the "banned from the bar foever" list. those in the elise stayed tragically dry...(and cool) RT 555 was AWESOME!! SO,,,after making a few route changes...after sharing the tackiest souvineer contest,,,we are shortly on our way... it does concern us however, we saw an ark with 2 of every animal going thru the locks on the ohio river....hmmmmm... wish us luck on day 2!
  2. Mike and Jen R. would you be kind enough to be our tour photographers? our camera decided it was made by lucas..:banghead:
  3. we looked at the jegs rail fin type. it was very nice and robust, but also a bit heavy. i just wanted to cool it a few degree's since it willl mostly see spirited road driving, but also a bit of autocrossing and track days in the near future. I might not even "need" things much cooler, but we have always run our cars on the conservative-cooler side. we also hasd budget in mind, even though we still went braided with good fittings
  4. Actually, although they look cool, they are probably hot...very hat they cant breath out the brake heat! still like the name though
  5. Ok, in that case "the wobbly wheel" is very appropriate..
  6. well we ended up with a "Earls" cooler that we put on the bottom of the car between the frame rails. it's down behind the steering rack mount. we added a little deflector to scoop a few puffs of air up into it as well. Braided lines and earls fittings should make it sturdy and leak free.
  7. Gary, that would be great...uhh, i cant find your phone # sorry. another option could be, since your only a few miles off the route we could detour to beach city airport for a couple minutes,,, i could call you when we get to Navarre.. the route is on a schedule we have to be on rRT 536 on the WV border before it gets dark.
  8. Will there be a swimsuit issue?
  9. sounds way too cool.. we will actually be going through Navarre and Wilmont. using rt 62 probably about 10:00/10:30. We hope the weather is good, NOAA is saying mostly sunny saturday. We cant give an exact time though...
  10. indeed.. We had a most beautiful big healey...that handled like a empty pickup with bald tires on ice..on it's best day. the brakes were pathetic. As well owning various other awesome british POS's. :_deadhorse: This se7en will even be better after i get a modern powerplant in it.. i wont miss the oil leaks. The basic formula was always correct, but the quality and application of theory was flawed, probably the technology of the era..but allot because so much was not considered quality-wise. As well, We still like the charisma/character/personality that a BMW-Miata-Honda-solstice sports car might never quiet attain. So besides the Ginetta (which is about the same as the se7en), we might get another spridget someday, but only because we know how to modernize it to a resonable standard.
  11. nobody yet?...with us getting this new zetec...wer can probably use it.
  12. We have a awesome tour planned for the comming weekend...also the weather boys are calling for 90 degrees! So, i better think about keeping this engine cool, and was thinking about adding an oil cooler. we figure the sandwich adapter between the filter and housing would be fine...but was looking for some thoughts on the cooler itself and mounting it. We have never liked mounting an oil cooler in front of a radiator..why add heat from one to another? but theres not much room otherwise. we were thinking maybe a rail mounted long type cooler attached low and to one of the front frame rails between the engine and bodywork-framerails on the passenger side. we just want to try and help it out a little, we havnt had overheating problems................yet any thoughts-pictures-ideas?
  13. anyways...we hope everyone has a safe 4th of july weekend.. so much to say about this holiday...lets enjoy what makes this country great
  14. I drive the se7en to work yesterday, nice ride...park it and cover it up like usual. no big deal. i get out of work some 9 hrs later go to uncover the car...and draped over the car...under the cover is a rather large, brand new (and probably not cheap) american flag.. No notes, nothing disturbed, no clues..nobody knows anything.. i work in a office of about 800 people with our own remote parking lot. ok,,,this is just strange. i love the new flag, but..it was kinda erie..:flag:
  15. does anyone know what the size of the nut is that goes on the throttle shaft of a wcoe 40 weber (spanish)..is it like an M7? (i'm here at work with the car and i think i found why the throttles hanging up..i know a M6 and M8 wont fit..):7frog: if i can make it to a hardware store maybe..
  16. yeah, we thought a nice little NACA duct from the side into the footwell would be of help..buit not sure if this is a good place for an inlet or not? dont want to start cutting into things if it wont work. we have our headers wrapped and insulation on the footwell.. but the feet still do get warm!
  17. motorcycles welcome.. the event will esentially start in akron ohio..go through amish middle ohio, filter down to marietta on the ohio southern border. skip into west virginia on day 2, up the WV panhandle thru wheeling WV into PA along the west border and into Sharon PA where we end the second day and head back home to cleveland akron. the run is awesome... it starts at 9:00 saturday morning the 12th ,..it's 2 days worth, OR one day 1/2 way and you can easily return home. only cost you your gas and whatever along the way..room/board...if you stay overnight. write us personally for more info? MIKE: do we have any solo flyers that might share the ride?
  18. last call, the event is THIS comming weekend! rain or shine..
  19. and for this weekends version...hell is getting a 100$ zetec engine on e-bay, spending 150$ on gas , then blowing out a truck tire on sunday north of detroit,,,4 hrs away from home...when ALL the local tire stores are closed..spending the night in a wal mart parking lot.. and a 100$ engine ending up costing 500$...:banghead:
  20. new cable works great so far...thanks! on to bigger things!
  21. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Parts-Accessories_Motorcycle-Parts-Accessories__06-Hayabusa-gsxr-1300-Motor-car-kit_W0QQitemZ290240775881QQddnZPartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQadnZMotorcycleQ20PartsQ20Q26Q20AccessoriesQQddiZ2811QQadiZ2863QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item290240775881 freind sent me this...if anyone is interested.
  22. yeah...the hard detailed questions will start flowing soon... Mike..you wanted to help right?..hehehe..yeah we need to have a few beers over this. Gary ok,,,i hope your engine compartment is available for some measurements and photos.. thanks guys..i appreciate the help ahead of time. first the basics...then we will do fun-performance stuff as time progresses.. first big question..variable timing cam....ok, am i stuck with making this system work? or...is there an alternative using the same head? diffrent intake cam and cam wheel/gear/sprocket? or..do i need to now go scrounge up a escort electrical system to plug into this with the rest of the engine to follow? Right now (unless the above statement wont allow them) we will be keeping the webers, and either buying or fabbing a manifold and rejetting them as needed (any specs for 40's on a zetec appreciated).. yes i would MUCH rather go with FI...but theres a reason i bought the engine for 100 bucks. FI comes later.. starter motor..use what i have? i have the typical sierra 5 speed.. do i need to change bell housings? flywheel?.(.i have no clue what i am getting yet..) looks like theres none. I am thinking this is one item i can go performance with right off.. go with a nice aluminum/steel face deal if it's not more than we can possibly afford. clutch and throw out bearing setup? and nice pressure plate/clutch but not neccissarily high buck competition. needs water pump and front accessories (back to ebay we go). stainless headers to match up to my existing system? birkin part probably? ignition..can i reuse my crank trigger? (doubtful)... raceline water rail...whats this all about? altenator...oh this cant be too hard right? engine mounts. another birkin part..or...fab my own, the original x-flow wont work i am guessing.. i know i opened the can of worms here.. and the project wont start till the weather turns cold..but Mike your right i need to start looking at scrounging-gathering parts. and as well, we will have a nice (but low oil PSI) x-flow we can get a few dollars for maybe? OH..Mary didnt kill me for this!!...but i want to stay above ground during the process as well.. :hurray:
  23. this is terrible,,i just couldnt resist...now i am in deep do do... i bought a ZETEC OFF OF E-BAY.. Mary's gonna kill me. it's a 1998 remanufactured 2.0, it had 10 minutes left on it, ...but the price was right..only $102.00!! ok,,,Now what do i do?... it came out of an 98escort,and has the VCT cam. oh i have so much to learn now...i hope this will work???? ok, it needs some of the accessories, but i figure i already have a set of webers..and maybe i can use my crank trigger..uhhh, maybe not. voices of experience please come forth! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=320264853383&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=011
