  1. lets see... 200$ on the reworked flywheel. 130$ on the new clutch. about 120$ on new seals and gaskets. new dash clock for 20$, clock velcro 3$..(will also use on boat). new header wrap at 30$ about 3$ on some new breather hoses. 30$ on wax and polish. new headlight bulb and new tailight bulbs. whatever those cost. not fair to count regular maintenance and petrol.. we have about 300+ miles on it this year. unless something breaks... or we find some outrageous great deal on something we need/want, we are good to go.
  2. when budget allows, we are going to the charcoal black color on our wheels. it just would look better,
  3. some car show event photos:
  4. Well Mary and Trina often ride topless.. I meant the car is topless, yeah yeah...thats what i meant. Anyways... i had bought a set of goggles when i first got the car, they were terrible! they fit nice and looked great and were even polarized...but 3 seconds on your face in any conditions or any weather, and you couldnt see out of them. i was happy when someone stole them out of the car! i just wear partially wrap around polarized sunglasses now with a strap around the back.. not real great, but at least they dont fog up!
  5. i tried the LED replacements for my rear tailights, and they didnt give off nearly the same brightness/candlepower? as the old filiment type. I switched back to what i had. however, i have used LED's in other applications.
  6. We have the 1600 xflow in ours.. maybe 110 ponies? it needs about 70 more HP, and ALLOT better tires. i would rather have more fun with more grip myself.. right now she slides around TOO much! then it would be just about right. all it takes is budget.. sigh.
  7. The Birkin is 14 1/2" wide.. they wont work. No Whooty's sitting in the Birkin....lol
  8. I have actually done things like this, the only problem is, because the paint doesnt have a hardener, it will chip like crazy, and it will have to be polished allot.. it wont retain it's shine, not even with rattle can clear. i was going to do my wheels with a charcoal black this winter,,,but i dont think they would hold up with a simple rattle can job. i wish it would, because you can get a really nice initial job with the cans..
  9. We have a Birkin with the 1600 as well, we fabricated a drainable alum catch tank and placed it in front of the passenger (starboard) side footwell. iI wouldnt just allow the line to breathe into plain air, because it seems mine will breathe out nearly a pint of oil every few hundred miles. We also have a crank trigger ignition, so we use the old distributor hole for a breather as well now.
  10. Ok, 3rd weekend of september.. and we are trying to find some twisties along the route between the wineries..
  11. That was a darn good list! (hey, we are trying to get ours dirty now after the spring car show... really we are. )
  12. Thanks, they actually look rather nice, and i like the classic look yet with side support. they look a bit wide so Dimensions will help thanks!
  13. With the new thread about the appeal for the se7en being universal between motorheads and motorsports and cruisers of all types and flavors, this falls right into place: This weekend we are going to attend a benifit Poker run "trekk'n for TA TA's in Northeast ohio (mainly the Akron area). Yeah this will be a bunch of bikers, but the roads should be great and we have happily visited most of the places on the list. Anf the lotus is always welcomed in bike circles. Besides the charity is one of our favorites!! =) With Mary and Trina driving the lotus often, We always support ta ta's...uhh...so to speak. anyways.. $20 per Rider/ $30 per couple. Registration at 10:30am/ last bike out at 12pm/ last bike in at 4pm....1st location Gear Heads in Cuyahoga Falls - food and beverage provided. 2nd stop - Big Fish in the Valley, 3rd stop - Hook Line and Drinkers, 4th stop - Legends in Green, and the 5th and final stop will be at Quaker Steak in North Canton. For more information contact: Angie @ 330-686-9090 or
  14. Mike, would the 3rd weekend of september be getting too late? we ran 1/2 the tour we are planning out this past weekend.
  15. We bet the drive was medication in itself!
  16. We are proposing to have the winery tour the second weekend in september. Mike, do we have an address or # to secure the date with the lotus club too?
  17. I might be interested, could you give me some dimensions? seat width? height? etc, they would need to fit in the birkin se7en. are they on a website somewhere? i cant tell by the picture is there any side support to them? thanks RK
  18. What a great day! Mike R won for beast lotus of show. The new brooklands screens are awesome looking Mike. I didnt want to try out your new tires,,because i know it would have been bad for me. was a great day and there was 7 loti total in attendance. Pictures to come. We took a short ride after the show to quaker steak and lube, including a mini cooper, buick wildcat convertible, europa, and a subaru station wagon... OK,.,,Mary and Trina got to drive the lotus,,and i followed, only fair since they helped get it ready for the season.
  19. Mary made a set from "sunbrella". My se7en has outside snaps anyways, so these are basically just a piece of material made to fit the opening with snaps to match. She also sewed a small pocket into them. The work great! They only weigh a few OZ's each, and i could almost fold them up into a pants pocket when the are not being used. They kep out the rocks and i like the way they look on the se7en. it's a win win win situation
  20. Well, we might have our top up as well, if the weather boys are accurate. We will be there rain or shine. at least the rain will bead..
  21. Roof? you dont need no stin'kn roof.. what happened to the gary that drove home in a rainstorm last spring? i say lets go for a "blat" after the car show and wrangle up some good lotus grub!
  22. Once upon a time, when i was young i thought an italian car would be sexy cool. i bought a FIAT X19. The car was up on jacks 4 hrs for every 1 hr on the road. Thats no joke. On the occasions when it ran, it was anemic, but handled great. The wheel bearings smelled like cod liver oil. Eventually i had to take it to the FIAT dealership to get the clutch replaced (i was a kid and didnt know how) and the mechanic gave me a list 4 pages long of things needed to be replaced. I gave up and replaced it with a TR4...which is another story.. we knicknamed the TR4 the mosquito fogger.. i love my se7en..
  23. Those fancy LED replacement tailight bulbs, are only about 2/3 as bright as the old filament type! We tried a set of them on the se7en, and they were not so great. And i am getting scared... the car has yet to have any oil leaks after i replaced the seals. what did i do wrong? it's british, it needs oil leaks..
