DOHH!! oh that is just way too cool! how come so many people's garages look so pristine? that is just an awesome way to display the toys!! after one restoration of a british car and mine looks like.....a restoration was done in it! weld marks on the floor, grinder burns, oil spots from leaky tranny's, primer and sanding dust...and he even has a cute little doggy!!! our dog sheds like crazy! i cant sweep up fast enough ...i dont get it. -

We got ours as well to fit a miata. but be careful with the new non-cotton synthetic styles.. they will melt right to your exhaust in a moment dont ask Mary how she knows this. ((johnch your garage is way too clean...wow you need a cover?))

wheres the bike rack on the birkin?
-
slickity! i think mine are more like those round hay bails in the background.. but they are way down the to buy list....way down.

We just finished making our birkin 7 into a side exit exhaust...what a HUGE diffrence!! it was easy to do with a little tig welding. We are only sorry we didnt do it earlier....no more clothes smelling terrible when we get somewhere. we placed it so it's not a burn hazard when you get out either (well unless you try) of course the side exhaust does kick up a little dust now and again.. Mary also made a couple 1/2 side curtians for the car. nothing more than some sunbrella material cut-sewn-and snapped onto the existing snap points. they are flexible enough so that they dont restrict or bother your driving, yet dont flap around either. they weigh a few oz's if that. they work great and look nice as well.

it looks good the way it is... oh wait.

I don't know where it's from, but it's damn funny...
southwind25 replied to slngsht's topic in Off Topic
deja vu... this actually happened to us! we were having a backyard bonfire, when the neighbors came out shouting to us about the smoke.. then we realized it wasnt bob's cooking but our house! we had an electrical fire and lost most of the second floor. seriously. -
You can get aluminum rivets with a stainless steel insert. I am going to use them to fasten the aluminum floor to the ginetta boot. ( fastenal ) you might get yourself an air riveter...you'll be thankful for the few extra dollars you spent. you might consider some zinc chromate between..and make sure you de-bur the holes.

1600 X-Flow question: (clutch/oil problem??)
southwind25 replied to southwind25's topic in General Tech
As much as we hate breaking into the main part of the driving season... yeah, we are going to yank the lump out and plan on replacing the rear seal, front tranny seal, and look and see if they need repair sleevs as well. then replace the clutch-pressure plate-bearing with something a little more robust...or at least not saturated. -
About 12 years ago, AB refurbished their main brewhouse In ST Louis. Yours truly was on the piping design team, and i personaly built a 3/84-1 scale model of the brewhouse, and the new fermenting tanks. The model was bigger than my house when i finished it. ...you do NOT want to go in the basement of that AB brewhouse..at 120degrees and with all the beer puss that oozes into the catacombs, they grow cockroaches that can carry off a small child...you must carry a weapon for the rats. personally i have seen what they make budweiser out of.. :ack: they use ALLOT of fillers for their Wort. I enjoy a good ale, but prefer great lakes or sam adams...when my homebrew runs out

We plan on getting the car to a little local car show sunday in the portage lakes area that my Mom is actually involved with. We will be home later in the afternoon. best to give us a call, and if we are home yes your more than welcome to take a look. 330-714-3740

Nope,,,this is a family website..i cant go there...besides, it's like shooting fish in a barrel.
-
sent a reply about the ginetta...yes, your more than welcome to come look at ours! uhhh...size 15's wont fit in the Birkin 7 though... for that you might need to think about something a bit larger.. The ginetta will fit your height..but once again the footwell is little bigger than the Birkin se7en.

July 12th-13th Ohio Run..."Bat out of hell run"
southwind25 replied to southwind25's topic in Great Lakes
Oh Yes, Mary drove the length of rt 89! sadly Robert here makes a very poor passenger :willy: :ack: However mary did real well, and set a good pace to follow being the lead car. And who do you think drove it to work today when Robert couldnt find his keys this morning? yeah Mary! -
This 1600 is still rather new to us...though we are learning it quickly (and will be replaced this winter) Is there a rear main seal on this engine? or is it just a crank-to-block tolerance thing like my old leaky BMC A series? After only 5 k miles the clutch is slipping at High speed-High revs. It seems to be ok from a stop (i havnt done any burnouts off the line) but anything above about 4k rpm under power and it starts slipping rather badly. We suspect simple oil on the clutch surface....anyone have experience here with this engine-clutch scenario? BUT?...it could be something else? ... ((before we take it apart we might try playing with the clutch slave cylinder throw out rod to make sure it's properly fully engaged... )) we wouldnt think we have worn out a clutch after 5k!..we havnt pushed the car that hard yet. and we dont have the budget at the moment to just drop in the new zetec

July 12th-13th Ohio Run..."Bat out of hell run"
southwind25 replied to southwind25's topic in Great Lakes
Home again home again diggity dig! First,,we want to thank Gary Slutz for sharing his talents and time with us saturday morning...now THAT was awesome! The milage total (for our se7en) was 626.7 miles. casualties included our front spoiler from hitting the groundhog, the ghost of Sir Lucas now inhabits our car, and...we have a slipping clutch. (questions to come shortly), and Bob's derrie'r is worn VERY thin from those hideous seats we need to still replace. WHAT a RIDE! Our morning stop at the airport set us back a bit timewise, as well as saturday downpour so we ended up having to skip RT 26 in ohio and rt 19 in W.V. but not to cut short the fun, we ventured onto rt 89 in WV...what a wild road! we passed a porch full of hill folk who looked as if they saw spaceships. the roads mid section turned into a strange fiasco as asphalt was washed away from a rain earlier that week and the road was often only 1 lane. however it was passable until we got to what was newly paved, then it turned into switchback heaven. the weather gods smiled on us, and The rain held out till we stopped at a casino along the way. :7rain: We Hope Mike and Jen R post some of the pics they took... We could go on writing about the adventure for another page, but simply we all had a most wonderful time on some of america's most wanted lotus roads. everyone cam home mostly in 1 piece and happy.. and heres a kicker...we couldnt find the keys to my workbeater car this morning...so guess what got driven to work all oil strreaked and full of bugs like an old sopwith camel fresh from a dogfight?
