  1. Paying some premium for the ability to register in CA is one thing, but bumping the bidding from $25k to $40k in one go, days before the auction heated up was a bit curious. It's possible with the two guys wanting it so bad the price would have gotten there anyway but that was a bit silly strategy. At that price, I would have sold them my car, which is a lot better spec and has an CA SB100 exemption. Studio lighting hides a lot of cosmetic flaws too. Having dipped my toe in the classic Mini waters fairly recently, I am not so sure the 67 Lotus registration is as valuable as one might think. What I learned with the Minis was that there were a lot of later year models that were dubiously registered as pre 68 to get into CA and while you can get away with it initially, the changing of ownership would sometimes get flagged and cause problems as the inspections made it obvious the car wasn't period (i.e. a 68 Mini didn't have fuel injection, nor does a 67 Lotus 7). The new owner may get lucky or may find they are dealing with the SB100 process anyway >

  3. I had a similar symptoms on my car, it was early stages of the fuel pump failing when it would heat up. Check that. .
  4. You either are into the elemental sports car experience or you're not, no amount of car preparation or support is going get someone to change their mind. Sam Smith is someone who gets it, that's why he used to own a Caterham and a Lotus Elan. The wheels could have fallen off and he would have put a positive spin on it .

  6. Bruce, with all due respect, I've been doing photography for car manufacturers and the car magazines for a good 15 years, I am well aware of the relationship. It was odd to me because last time Road and Track did an article that included a Caterham, they contacted me to shoot the story because they knew I had a 7 and because I was able to find a local owner to provide a car. And this was for a track car comparison test (at Sonoma) where having a supported car would have been much better since they were being run hard all day. I have not seen this story yet, but as noted the story wasn't about Caterhams and it seems the car was more of a prop. It was a lot of work (and cost) to have you haul a car down from Seattle for such a use when there were several local cars that would have easily been suitable for this purpose only a few miles away.   9. John Krafcik owns a Caterham as well, though it's been off the road for some time. I used to work with him a lot when he was CEO at Hyundai .

It should also be noted that Trump and his supporters are also wrongly claiming that their First Amendment rights have been violated http://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/708619775153475584?s=17 Between having protesters arrested and claiming he would introduce legislation to make it so he can sue the media for saying bad things about him, sounds like he doesn't much believe in the 1st Amendment .
  11. That's quite the passive-aggressive post with all the backhanded compliments. I guess you missed the part where he said his dad owned a Caterham and that he loves them. Doesn't sound like he needs a lecture on the virtues of a Seven. And you shouldn't assume you know what his experiences are. As an auto journalist he has likely driven all kinds of crazy things as part of his "every day life", I know I did when I was working with Car and Driver, and I went on some adventures that make a trip in a Caterham seem easy. And lets not forget all the millions of "weirdos" who ride motorcycles and put up with the same kind of discomforts, we are not all that unique except in that we are stupid enough to pay 5+ times more for the experience .
  12. I rest my case Regardless of what your credibility is, it doesn't mean you should be a dick about it. Travis didn't deserve to be insulted for his story. This place shouldn't be a "lions den" if you want to attract more people to Sevens :chillpill: . .
