  1. Wow, nice bikes (found the website), too bad I gave all my money to you or I'd look to buy one to put next to (and ride) my DeRosa

    Gas Attack!

I think it is being myopic to try and reduce the cost of oil now so to make us feel better, rather than adjusting our lifestyles and saving our resources for later when we may really need it. The cost of energy going up IS the incentive to find alternate energy sources now so that America wins the "race".

    Gas Attack!

Of course, but what you are suggesting is just a temporary "fix" that could possibly leave us in a really bad position in the future. The current situation is really not that bad just yet (people are just whining about it because no one likes change) that it is worth tapping what we may really need later, timing is everything Even if we find alternative energy sources, we still need oil to create many petroleum based products.

    Gas Attack!

Perhaps, but someday, oil is going to be $300 or more a barrel

I say we wait until we really need it before we tap our own resources. Lets use up "their" oil first or we're REALLY going to be in trouble in the future. I am not much of an environmentalist, but it is really easy for some of you to suggest off shore drilling when you don't actually live near the shore. As it is, there is quite a few oil rigs off the coast of California and I can tell you it is rather disturbing to be sitting on a beautiful piece of beach or coastline looking at oil rigs lined up one after the other
  7. I am sure you could get anything you want in the day, and I have no doubt some installed WW's on their Sevens, but I am not sure they came from the factory with the wheels. I could be wrong. Regardless, IMO, calling the newsletter "wobbly web" or the like, is not appropriate for this application, especially since mostly we are talking about replicas and/or cars that are merely inspired by the concept. The name would be more befitting of a newsletter for true classic Lotus cars. Of course this is in my humble opinion as someone who owns an old Lotus
  8. But did the car come with them, or did an owner put them on the car? Was it a one off? Personally, when I think of the Wobbly Web wheel, it brings to mind the early Formula cars and Sports Racers, not the road cars or 7's. Chapman was too cheap to put them on road cars LOL
  9. I don't believe that Wobbly Web wheels ever came on a Seven though, at least not from Lotus. All the factory pics I have seen has them with spoke wheels or pressed steel with or without hubcaps
  10. Unlike most classic cars, old Lotus drive great! My Elan is one of the most fun and best handling cars I've driven. The brakes are fantastic and only limited by the small tires. Unfortunately, they are also great at breaking :ack:

  13. The powerwagon is fabulous!
  14. Some pics from the Cars and Coffee meet that happens every Saturday morning in Irvine CA. Every weekend is different and you never know what will show up. Usually there is a couple hundred cars that show up, here is a random sampling from today http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3109/2640188858_7741bd0702_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3109/2640190668_fee9d6683e_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3033/2640191142_420b1fe85d_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3058/2640189026_770fd04982_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3076/2639362873_8ab753a47f_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3079/2640189770_422b8d524b_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3171/2640190278_99492d72ed_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3032/2639364081_7f76c07a0b_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3186/2639365111_82139b6cb0_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3117/2639365753_48ebff0fa1_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3101/2640193162_823b9b3a22_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3046/2639367667_d29fda3024_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3055/2639366503_d6fa544b53_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3089/2639363003_564c822acc_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3033/2640191142_420b1fe85d_o.jpg More pictures here .

    A Big WTF

Perhaps it's not the length of the track that is the problem, but the fact that they are driving 7000+hp cars that can hit 300mph in a few seconds... ya think? It's amazing more people don't die considering the volatility of these cars. I can't see how the extra 320 feet is going to make much of a difference for an out of control car at those speeds
  16. My Friend Gil took the studio shots of the car When Eric bought the car, he also had bought my friends incredible Cosworth powered Elan at the same time, so he showed up in Sugino's transporter to pick up the Elan. (to my disappointment he had left the Seven in AZ to pick up on the way back) The transporter is amazing too, it was so custom fit to the Seven that we had to let the air out of the tires in the Elan (which is tiny too) to get it in the truck and it still barely fit.
  17. Well it's a easy when you have a "racetrack" in your backyard. The hard part is trying to keep from going every day, especially with gas prices now :banghead: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2022/2591495589_5ff4624512_o.jpg I live in the bottom right corner area (click to make bigger) Well, I was able to keep him in my sights but he has way more seat time in the car than I do, not to mention another 100hp and the same weighthttp://www.websmileys.com/sm/crazy/686.gif It was also public roads too Sorry to make you sad, but trying to keep you updated on our baby Pix were taken with my point and shoot camera, was not really trying
  18. And she wore a "see through dress" http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3123/2602066025_32ce3f87dd_o.jpg This is up at the lookout point in the canyons of Malibu which is a local meeting point on the weekends for cars and motorcycles, though turnout was light on this day, it was around 100 degrees outside. I've nearly put a thousand miles on the car already Atom and Seven cruising through the streets of Santa Monica caused quite a stir http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3233/2602066005_98f5c78da5_o.jpg Here is some other pics from the drive http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3088/2602066017_6663cd3aaf_o.jpg Sexy NSX tagged along, owner said he brought a knife to a gun fight. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3126/2602066009_20cbc8b5e2_o.jpg Tesla came to the meet point this morning. Couldn't convince him to hit the canyons though (We think he was scared he would run out of juice ) http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3079/2602065989_abbff115be_o.jpg Ferrari dumping it's fluids on the ground (you can see the wet spot to the right of the car) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2242/2602072263_96503a9ec3_o.jpg
  19. I don't want to sell it to someone local, I need to put distance between us or I will cry when I see it Don't want to be like Randy, his car broke down all the way :ack:
  20. Well then you need to buy my Elan too then
  21. Did you pass on the Series 4?
  22. I am having a hard time finding the carbs on my Caterham, could someone tell me where to look? And wutz this thing you call an ECU, does my Zeeetak have one? http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/1209.gif
  23. Hey!!! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/mad/619.gif I resemble that remark! :seeya: If your passenger is not cryin' you ain't tryin'! .
  24. Hmm, first attempt at checking the mileage on the Seven and I got about 15mpg :ack: But I have not exactly been taking it easy :7fume: The good news is that I am getting much better mileage out of my modified Subaru WRX daily driver, it feels slow now so I have not been bothered to put my foot into it
