  2. He's saying "don't go any faster, don't go any faster!" LOL I've been "meat in the seat" several times in rally cars, both in testing and competition, and it is pretty intense when you are sideways with trees whizzing by on one side and a cliff on the other. The driver, Harri Rovanpera, is a nice guy too, met him at WRC Mexico a few years ago when he was driving for Peugeot http://www.mjswebgallery.com/rally_2002-06/images/2004-190.jpg
  3. To be fair, I believe K2Rum achieved that speed with a normally aspirated engine and no wings on the car

    off i go

Just dropped Mazda off at the airport. We had a great time. Took him out in Mr Orange today, he got sick (and screamed like a school girl) :jester:
  5. I told someone at a light the other day that it goes 300mph I was stopped at one of the mountain top lookout points here when some kids in a modified Audi rolled up and started asking questions about the car, then one says, "that's sort of like one of those Caterham things I've seen on Top Gear" and when I told him it was a Caterham he yelled "Oh Shit!" jumped out of the car and ran over to look at it LOL
  6. You do that too?
  7. -I've had my car two and a half months and I have already put 2500 miles on it and that is only using the car for fun drives on weekends. -I recently started organizing mid week Lotus club dinner/drives because I couldn't make it to the weekends to drive the car. -My wife doesn't need to remind me to take out the trash anymore, because now I have an excuse to go see the car in the garage. -I refrain from going out for other activities and started riding my bike to run errands so to not cut into my Seven gas money allowance. -I have long gone over said allowance. :banghead: -The "support group" doesn't help, because we just end up going for a drive anyway -I keep the steering wheel under my pillow at night -I blame Al :toetap:
  8. Preston just told me about that when I saw him a week or so ago
  9. LOL, it was more my fault for driving the car too much (catching the car cover on the mirror a couple of times didn't help either) :willy:
  10. Hate to break it to you Al, but I discovered said tensioners (and the other one on top of the mirror) after the mirrors flopped over on me But once tight, they don't move and are not difficult to keep adjusted (albeit it appears they do loosen up after a while, but I've put 2k miles on the car in just over 2 months), and getting the mirrors off to tighten them is pretty easy
  11. That looks like the same mounting piece that Sevens & Elans sells. Why are your mirrors hard to keep adjusted?
  12. My car has the Spa Mirrors and they work just fine for me. I just ordered the mounting bracket to allow doors to work with them from Sevens and Elans I agree about the wink mirror from mirrorsforsevens, it is fantastic and nice to get the giant stock rear view mirror out of my field of vision.
  13. Cars and Coffee can be arranged I will have the butler prepare the east wing for you
  14. You can stay here if you like on the 5th, I am about 15 minutes from LAX. Only caveat is that I could potentially be called away on an assignment at the last minute and you can't swap a Corvette motor into Mr Orange
  15. You payin' the expenses?
  16. Probably more like 2nd gear smoke the tires, 3rd gear smoke the tires, 4th gear smoke the tires then pray you can straighten the car out and slow down enough to make the corner http://www.websmileys.com/sm/happy/028.gif Well you must have some really straight roads where you live then. Where I drive, I would never be able to use that kind of power, the car would end up backwards off a cliff http://www.websmileys.com/sm/crazy/481.gif My friend who tested the 350hp SR27 for 0-60 mag described in the article that "power and grip are divorced and not on speaking terms" and "terrifying" and he was being kind compared to what he told me over the phone right after he drove it. And this is a guy who navigates in rally cars going 130mph on dirt roads with trees and cliffs whizzing by with a driver who has no self preservation gene. I prefer a more balanced car, that is why I have always been a fan of Chapmans creations. But to each his own I guess, just be safe
  17. And why would you want to pull away in third gear? How does it put the power down in the first two?
  18. Don't really care about 60-160, the roads I drive you can't get much over 60mph on, they are too tight and twisty And sliding around is half the fun
  19. And gold plating too apparently LOL I had heard about Brammo, shame that. I hear they are being produced in Canada now (?) FWIW, I have a friend who has a 300hp+ supercharged honda powered Atom from the UK (which is little bit lighter than Brammo's car) and he can only really pull away from me (driving your car ) on the longest of straights I have driven all kinds of exotics, Z06's, Nissan GT-R's etc and up to 70-80mph nothing is as exciting as the 7, and it is not just the acceleration, it is the whole experience which makes it more exhilarating Personally, I think having more than 200-250hp in these things is a bit absurd on the road, as it is with approx 200hp I have seen off Porsche Turbos, etc. on canyon roads and the car breaks traction at will. With all due respect to the nutters around here, but more power than that seems only useful if you need to accelerate into the triple digit speeds on a long straightaway, and IMO these cars are more about balance than outright speed. If you are interested in a hard shove in the back more than anything, perhaps you should be looking at Cobra replicas or something my £.01 ($.02usd)
  20. Worked on a test of an Ariel Atom with the 245hp motor for C/D and according to Brammo, it was $60k with all the bits, we also tested a CSR260 and Caterham's price was about $70k ( and that was before the Dollar took a dump). I have seen the 300hp version of the Atom go for about $70k I believe Correction: the CSR was $66,500 as tested, but again, that was two years ago
  21. Actually, I believe a fully specced new CSR260 is about the same money as an Atom
  22. I made my wife throw up, does that count -
  23. The face looks familiar but I can't remember my name
  24. You guys are slackers, article is 3 years old, can't believe you guys are just discovering it now. We have an Elise in the family as well, and I could see why you would keep the 7. Elise is a great compromise though BTW I nearly fell out of my chair at the comment you made to the guy on the Lotus forum who is cutting his car to bits to save weight.
  25. Whoa, I was trying to keep the vid on the down-lo, it was my first drive in the car (on anything but a freeway) and I was a bit ham-fisted with it. (I've nearly put 2k miles on it since then) A bit of background: The road is 9 miles long and has 248 tight turns, but you wouldn't know it from the vid because it is the bottom of the road where it straightens out (it is also the rough part of the road because of erosion). We left my friend Steve's classic MG on the side of the road, so it was just a quick blat and a turn around. Steve had sort of tried to talk me out of buying the Seven because he is a hardcore classic car guy (he has 6 MG's and uses one as a daily driver) and he loves my Elan so much and thought I would regret the decision to sell the Elan for the Seven. You can hear me say to him "You've got a big smile, so it can't be too bad" in regards to the Seven. After the ride he told me never to let him back in the car because he would have to buy one LOL He also suggested I keep barf bags in the car
