  4. Check out the new Drivers Republic Webzine, put together by Chris Harris of Autocar and Jethro Bovington and Richard Meaden of Evo mag. It's really good. Sign up and there is a 27 page article and 5 part video comparing the Caterham R500 vs Atom vs Lotus 211 http://www.drivers-republic.com

  14. It would be totally cool to have one painted up to match Orange for the some day in the future MoPho jr There is actually a really wild gravity race here in LA. They do it on one of the most treacherous roads here, called Tuna Canyon, it is very tight and twisty and has big drops off the side. The car manufacturers get involved and make really high tech cars, that hit 60mph on the downhill Here is the one made by Honda to resemble an old F1 car, it is tube frame, has full independent suspension, disk brakes etc http://www.makikodesign.com/gravity/images/gravity_racers132.jpg http://www.makikodesign.com/gravity/images/gravity_racers024.jpg http://www.makikodesign.com/gravity/images/gravity_racers088.jpg http://www.makikodesign.com/gravity/images/gravity_racers076.jpg

  17. I don't think that the Zetec in the Seven I would be registering is that much of a polluter, if at all. My old Lotus is a gross polluter, but I am sure the amount of pollution it puts out from my occasional weekend use is far less than someone commuting daily in a modern car. Additionally, the Elan is an old car that has been "recycled", saving the environment from more automotive waste being buried and also from the pollution of manufacturing yet another car. My conscience is fine with that Additionally, the process for hand building Sevens both at the manufacturer and by the end user creates much less of a 'footprint' than the big factory production line manufacturing technique of most modern cars
  18. Some more info http://www.nobleforums.com/showthread.php?t=1480
  19. I have a friend who owns a Noble with an SB100 and is also a LEO, he said that several Noble owners have been able to bring out of state cars in and get SB100's. I am trying to arrange a phone call with him to get more info. I can certainly understand why the Atom owners don't want to discuss their technique in public
  20. Actually, I have seen at least 4 Atoms with CA plates on them here and a couple of Nobles
  21. But as you mentioned to me before, your seven was previously registered as a 60's vehicle. Orange is registered as a 2004, so it is not the same and since the car does not have all the smog equipment associated with a new car it can't be smogged like a newer car brought in from out of state, it won't pass the smog test, both visually or with the sniffer. As noted, it is not going to prevent me form getting it on the road since I have "another home where I live for 7 months of the year", but I would like to get an SB exemption for the car before they stop offering this provision
  22. Sounds like an SB 1578 is needed for previously registered cars http://www.californiacaterhamclub.com/chat/showpost.php?p=2908&postcount=19
  23. So what are you supposed to do if you buy a complete car from out of state? I am doing the same registering it in AZ, but I had planned to change it over when the Jan rolls around. There is someone on the Cal seven forum who did register a Birkin in CA that came from AZ.
  24. I don't think it matters, does it? How are people registering Ariel Atoms and Nobles which are new chassis designs and new engines?
  25. Why? I got the impression that it is the same process of getting an SB100 exemption as if it is a kit car
