  1. I could be convinced to part with mine. I have five 15" Prisoner wheels with nearly new Toyo T1R tires on them. I am in Seattle.
  2. This is a very nice car. I have seen it in person and running on the track.
  3. Good way to prevent getting tickets. Left a little cold by aspects of the front-end, but the rest of it is well executed. A slippery 7 would be sweet. I wonder how much all the extra bodywork adds to the curb weight over a regular CSR.

  5. I have ZZR's on my car on 13" Caterham wheels, basically the exact same set-up as here. Very, very sticky. I have never driven a car with CR's, but every indication is that the ZZR's are far more grippy. I wonder with the supercharger and other stuff here if they can make the car in LHD? Is the steering rack going to be in the way? Has anyone seen torque quoted? This is where I would see the biggest gains. I am also curious about heat soak robbing the engine of power at warmer track outings after a couple of laps. I know many supercharged cars have an issue with this.

I would think you would definitely want to do lowered floors, particularly if you are going to try to drive with the top up. I am 6'2" and I have a standard chassis Caterham without lowered floors. I would like the lowered floors to get some actual roll bar clearance (my head with helmet is basically the same height as my FIA bar) and to get my eyes below the top edge of the windshield. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v715/tgodbout/photo5.jpg

  9. That is some serious mechanical grip. Probably the least activity at the wheel I have seen for a Caterham going that fast. How heavy is the steering with those big slicks up front?

  11. I have to agree about what KitCat said in regards to getting that much power out of a X-flow. That is a lot of power to ask of a streetable motor. I like the BDA idea though.
  12. Very tight track with hardly any straights. You are pretty much cornering 70% of the time.
  13. I have the multispoke Caterham 13" wheels on my '97 Caterham. I bought them from Karl (blubarisax) with Avon ZZRs. They are quite sticky and resulted in a 7+ second lap improvement over my 15" wheel/Toyo T1R set-up.
  14. The lack of mechanical inclination would be my biggest concern. I don't do all the work on my car, but I do quite a bit of it. These things require a lot more care and fiddling than any regular production car. I know of only one person who daily drives their car, and he is not 6'5" and they have another regular car. Even a pro-built Caterham is going to require more maintenance in 10k miles than your Cayman S would require in 150k miles. Also, good luck driving one with the top up at 6'5". You have 3" on me and I never drive mine with the top on. Just being realistic with my response, not negative toward your purchase decision.
  15. Lodging is pretty costly for that weekend. They really jack up the rates. If you know you are going now, start looking for deals and get it locked up. I stayed at the same hotel as I did in Monterey a week after the event when I was passing back through. The nightly rate was literally half what it had been for the historics/pebble beach.

  19. JohnCH convinced me into getting the Evo2. Actually, I let him run (aka guinea pig) his for about six months before I pulled the trigger on mine. I haven't installed it yet thanks to my 11 month old, but it is seriously light and compact. Also gives me more mounting options much lower in chassis. Hell, some zip ties would hold this thing in place no problem is it so light.
  20. No bike road racers run a Busa engine. The Hayabusa is a relatively huge bike by sportbike standards, and is designed more for straight line speed and acceleration. It was designed to compete with the Honda Blackbird for production motorcycle top speed honors. Now drag racing is a different story...
  21. Really cool on the D2. I have been following Dennis since he built his Megabusa way back when. With the relative spaciousness (by Palatov standards anyway) of the D2 engine bay, why are you looking at the Hartley?
  22. As I understand it, the first thing you do is get the bottom a-arms of the front suspension as close to level to the ground as possible. Once this is done, you want a 10-15% rake measured on the chassis bottom tubes. I just did this after finally getting adjustable suspension collars and installing the wide-track kit on my '97 De Dion.
  23. A GSX-R 600 would be about 400 lbs ready to ride. High-end sportbikes are well under 400 lbs these days.
  24. Very wise. Before I got the Avon ZZR's on my car, there was a younger kid in a rather stock Miata with sticky tires that made me work very hard to shake him at the big kart track. One of the fastest cars I have seen there is a 300+ hp NA Miata with very big turbo and rear wing. Good to see the Veyron out on track. Running on a road course in one of those is like skiing a slalom course on race DH skis. Now, if you were running at the full Le Mans course, I doubt that any street car could touch him with those two lengthy straights.
  25. I was told by Jon at Caterham USA that I could run full headrest with my seats (I have the lift out bottom seats as well).
