  1. Looks like he is thinking of how to hot-wire it and make a quick get away

  5. whats under the hood? Normally aspirated or super charged? I also love the colour!
  6. Cool. I have a great 90 minute to 2 hour loop that goes from Ford drive and the QEW. If you want to come for a blat, drop me a PM. Congrats on the acquisition!
  7. Where are you located?
  8. Actually, the author is driving. I let him take the wheel for the full 2 hour drive. Figured it would maximize the experience for him. I also enjoyed being a passenger for once. I'm the young guy in the blue shirt....(well if you call 43 young). I've always loved old english cars and the Seven is the ultimate in my view
  9. I contacted an automotive journalist who has been dreaming of Caterham ownership and offered him a spin. Here is the result: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/car-life/cheney/the-joy-of-going-topless/article2446902/ I'm the guy in the left (my car is right hand drive) in picture 16 of the gallery: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe-drive/car-life/galleries/in-pictures-the-art-of-the-convertible/article2447696/?from=2446902
  10. Thanks. part of the problem was finding band clamps that fit the 1.625 inch pipes. I got some that are used on old Triumph motorcycles. The combination of clamps and copper coloured RTV material looks quite "bodged" but if it seals my exhaust, I can live with it. My latest 100 mile test seems to have worked.
  11. Yikes, good luck! Advancing the ignition and leaning out the carbs is the best I've heard
  12. you are a nut!
  13. Yes, I've been down that road. Hopefully the band clamps will create pressure to stop the vibration that seems to contribute to the breakdown and splitting of the high temp RTV sealant
  14. I've still got exhaust leaks at the join of the 4 into 1 collector. I'm going to try a pair of motorcycle exhaust T-bolt band clamps and some high temp silicone on each pipe. I wonder though, can a band clamp apply enough pressure to a stainless steel thin wall pipe to improve the seal on a slip joint between 2 pipes? Just curious on the physics.
  15. What was funny was that Peter (the driver) obviously knew how to drive a car fast. He was hustling faster that I'm usually comfortable driving. So that was fun. Great guy, lots of funny stories and to be honest it was kinda fun to be a passenger for once
  16. That's me in blue. Let a local journalist with an itch for a seven take her for a rip. He took a great video. I think it ends around minute 3.5 of 5.5 youtu.be/t5UQEmgXnT8?a
  17. I got the chance to briefly sample an Evora S on Saturday. It was only around the neighborhood, but I have to say that if you told me I had 2 hours and my choice of my car or a modern sports car, I'd take mine any day. The Evora had a wonderful supercharger sound track, but it is so enclosed. I love the openness of the Caterham. Also, the Caterham feels twice as fast due to the sensations
  18. I have seen this car. It is the real deal. A red "Yellow bird" RUF CTR. If I had the money......probably a really good long term investment and surely a blast to drive http://www.pcaucr.org/component/adsmanager/?page=show_ad&adid=10534&catid=0
  19. I noticed that my front tires are not scuffed on the outside inch and a quarter. The suspension is slightly sagged at the front leading to a high levels of camber. The shocks have adjustable spring platforms. So is the proper thing to tighten up the spring preload to raise the front to perfectly level on the bottom wishbone? There are two rings at the bottom. What is the procedure? Crank up the top ring and set it and then use the bottom ring to lock it in place? Thanks
  20. Just to provide a slight offset. I've never driven a TR3 so I'm not able to do a direct compare. However, a seven particularly a crossflow live axle 4 speed caterham is more suited to the occasional blat. I suspect the higher HP with a Dedion axle and longer gearing would make a big difference With the short gearing for highway use, the vibration, noise and wind buffeting, I find I am pretty mentally and physically fried after 3 hours in the car. In many ways that is a good thing as I wanted a visceral and pure experience, but it does dissuade me from going on a 4-6 hour tour and I think my lovely wife would not put up with it. I know many others have toured great distances in a Seven.
  21. brilliant video
  22. stopped to take some pictures. Great sunny drive today
  23. Birkin 42...great minds think alike. Limehouse is also known as regional road 22. Very nice road. I think I will string these two routes together next time I'm out!
  24. OK...so where is Limehouse? This was a combination or Ford Drive north of the 401 (9th line), turn left onto Lower baseline and then work your way west to walkers line on lower baseline and lower baseline W and regional road 2
  25. Had a great blat yesterday. My neighbor, the lady doctor who runs triathalons (and has the buns of a 20 year old...but I digress) told me about a local road that is popular with the bicycle road riders. Wow...twisty, dives in and out of two wooded valleys, includes an old one track wooden bridge with a lip to get some air (or pretend to) and also a down hill 1/2 mile straight to rev the beens out of her. Good quality roads are hard to find where I live, its nice to find a little slice of heaven to escape to.
