I bought the A539s for my 89' xflow. I live in Ontario Canada so lots of cool weather driving in the spring and fall. Overall I'm happy with the tires especially for the price. I used midlandwheels in the UK and I had them on my door step for about $125 each all in. I'd recommend them for a street and backroad use car.

Still early days... No longer with me: 1982 Nissan Stanza - POS 1990 Mazda 323 - a bit better 1997 Mazda Protege - better still 1974.5 MGB - my first classic - shook like a SOB at above 60, but sure was pretty in BRG with wire wheels 1980 Porsche 911 SC Targa - a bit of a rat rod, but fun..serious money pit though...learned all about how not to buy and own Porsches 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 - amazing condition, so gorgeous (I still miss her), great value and a terrific GT - sold it for more than I bought it for to buy the seven - basically an even swap from a cost perspective $24K Now own: 2000 Nissan Pathfinder - starting to rust out, but she still starts every morning 2010 Subaru Legacy 2.5i - not all that sexy, but gets about 450 miles per tank and kicks butt in the snow 1989 Caterham Super Seven - my mistress!

Awesome find. I remember when an amp was a symbol of taste. The centre piece of a man's den (cave). All cool nakamichi black with a soft glowing power button. Pressing that button was followed by an electric hum as the machine prepared to turn current into clean sharp sound energy. Put on "Dark Side of the Moon" Man! I watched it live. Watching him get out of the capsule and step off that ledge was pretty amazing. That kid has some guts. I was worried about him when he tumbled. I guess there was not enough air initially to allow him to stabilize. I was watching with my 11 year old son. I was hoping he didn't go "splat" 1,200+ kph is some pretty massive speed. In a weird way, his breaking the speed of sound is not much of a feat when there is virtually no air up there and no sound waves. I think decelerating thru the speed of sound was probably more of the issue for him. I hope his chest cam worked. I want to watch it from his perspective. Congrats to him!

Great feedback! I do worry that once I start to use it, all those old dried out parts will start to fail.... I guess I will have to decide if this is an experiment worth doing. If I can get it at my door for a very low entry cost, then it might me fun. If it is going to be steep, then you are right. Right now our 2nd city car is a 2000 pathfinder with 150,000 miles. She is starting to rust and only has a season or two left before she is too embarrassing to have in the drive way. I guess I saw this as a low cost replacement to defer the big cost of a replacement car. I only drive the 2nd car about 5,000 miles a year.

It also only weighs 2300 lbs with a low centre of gravity and sharp steering. It should be a fun little city scooter

Yeah, my wife thinks I'm a cheap skate. She is right. She wants a Mini convertible or a Fiat 500. I just can't turn down a deal like this. Worst case, I get it, drive it for a little while, then sell it to some "tuner" kid for my cost of shipment

My great aunt in BC is too old to drive now. She lives in Victoria on Vancouver island. She has a little red 1990 Honda Civic 4 door with only 20,000 miles!?! I think it is rust free and in great condition. Am I crazy to spend a grand or two to have it shipped across the country to use as my 2nd city car and as a starter car for my eldest son once he is old enough to drive (in 5 years)? From what I hear they last forever if taken care of. It is 22 years old though. If I change the oil and tranny fluid, the brake pads and fluid and get new tires and a new battery, the car is going to be practically like it came off the lot, right? Thoughts?
