  1. Recently replaced both mounts with some after market pieces as my intake side engine mount was broken The exhaust side mount is for sale. Caterham UK charges $60 plus shipping. For sale for $40 plus shipping
  2. If I was filthy rich, I'd build a 1500 HP 42 litre aero engined monster like this Packard Bentley.....just because I could. .....in addition to giving away lots of money to charity of course Packard-Bentley Road Test on Vimeo
  3. I find my brake feel less than inspiring. What are the specs for an 89' live axle front brake replacement pad? Are they triumph spitfire calipers? Any supplier you recommend? Don't need a race pad, just something quiet with a bit more bite.
  4. Peter, I'm loving the driving gear! I recently bought some Halcyon driving googles. Very practical and guaranteed to make everyone smile.
  5. I need to move to CA. There is no way we could get an autocross like that up and running in Ontario Canada. Brilliant looking event and track
  6. A bit grainy, but wonderful just the same http://www.streetfire.net/video/victory-by-design-lotus_2047490.htm

    Hurricane Irene

    Good luck guys!
  8. Hoping to see it within the week. I'm going to try to get my wife to come with me to the show. I want to see this on the big screen as opposed to waiting for the DVD. I also came across this today. I wish it was being screened here in Canada. I've always had a sick fascination with the IOM TT http://www.tt3dmovie.com/
  9. I've been looking and some of the deals that can be found in the UK seem very good: Four Yokohama A539 185/60/13 http://www.midlandwheels.com/Shop/P-7091-185/60x13-Yokohama-A539.html $460 shipped to my address with their current 20% discount The last time I got a quote for tires locally it was closer to $900 installed. Anyone know the duty if any for importing from the UK?
  10. Was hoping to trim it with the headers in place to avoid rusty exhaust stud removal. Perhaps careful use of a dremel cutting wheel will work
  11. My new engine mounts raised my motor up a few mm. Now my headers press on the side skin where they exit the body. I assume the vibration and heat transfer are probably not a good thing. Are there any hand tool DIY methods where I could cut off a bit of the ali side skin? Cutting wheel?
  12. Big fan of the forks of the credit.
  13. Wow, had a fun night last night. Finally found a road that has been discussed on the best bike roads forum: http://bikeroads.atspace.com/ Start of the road (SRD 15): http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=15th+side+road+georgetown,+on&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl Please post your other favourites
  14. I was blasting up a dark wooded country lane last night and noticed what I thought was a car without any tail lights moving into a drive way (hmmmm that's funny). Turns out it was the back end of a buck walking into the woods. Good thing I slowed down because out steps a big doe right into the middle of the road. As per the cliche', she stood there in the road and stared into my headlights and then walked off. I wonder if I hit her at speed, would I just slip under her or catch her directly with my head. Lets hope I keep getting lucky! Good thing I don't live in Newfoundland. They have an epidemic of car-moose deaths http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/919570--loose-moose-wreaking-havoc-on-newfoundland-roads
  15. Seems like a nice kid. Very smooth in the reasonably priced car. There must be a lesson in their somewhere
  16. Finally go the proper curved Aldon unit installed. Initial impressions are: -No more lazy spark -Nice fat mid range around 3,000 I'm going for a twisty road blat tonight so I will let you know about the top end tomorrow
  17. Turned out to be a combination of the need for a valve adjustment and fixing the float height related to replacement needle valve. Also turns out my new mechanic is a very poor communicator. The car was in the shop all week as he worked thru investigating the source. Every time I'd call for an update, he would respond in an almost unintelligible UK accent (he must be close to 80 years old) with a tone of concern. In the end it was 8 hours of labour to do quite a handful of fixes (replace engine mounts which took some fettling due to them not being stock items, replace distributor and rewire the tach, fix hand brake, adjust valves, diagnose engine problems) He lent me a copy of an old grimy Weber tuning guide from 1973 which I will try to scan and post as soon as possible
  18. If I end up needing more significant work, I think I will trailer the car to Britain West. Thanks guys....very depressed right now
  19. Damn xflow will not rev. Tried to address and diagnose it myself to no avail so took it to the mechanic along with a new distributor. Turns out it was not the distributor. He is checking the valve clearances. I sure hope that is the issue. There are only 35,000 miles on her. I can't afford a rebuild if it something really nasty! Keeping my fingers and toes crossed.
  20. Looks in terrific shape. What motor?
  21. The two white wires run to the positive side
  22. I'm replacing an old lucas "hall effect amplifier" ignition system with a new aldon distributor. Can someone walk me thru the wires that normally run to the coil? Right now there are two wired (white with black stripes running to the negative side of the coil. There is a small black wire that runs from the alternator to the positive side of the coil. There are two white wires to the coil. The new distributor simply says connect the red wire to the positive side and the black to the negative side. Should I remove any of the other wires or leave them as redundant? Also, any special install tips for the distributor, or just remove and replace and try to set the arm pointing in the same direction?
  23. sounds like an issue with the transition from the idle jet to the main jet. How to the plugs look? Too rich? Are your auxiliary venturies loose?
  24. Nice surprise today driving along Adelaide St: A Birkin with BRG cycle wings. Anyone on this forum?
  25. If I was a single man, I'd put this in my living room (with a drip tray) during the week and roll it out at dawn every summer Sunday in search of twisties http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180706042175+&viewitem=
