  1. jfgw - sent pm call me , glenn
  2. concours first place was the seven from rocky river, ohio . that's what the trophy we took home with us said . it is a correctly badged caterham S3 with SVT engine built in 2006. all the cars looked great , my favorites , the yellow with the rover engine and the yellow SV . as for the snobs & whiners , they are everywhere, deal with it !!
  3. I'm half of the caterham couple from cleveland Lynn is the other half. we had a great time at log , was nice to see such a diverse group of caterhams. had a great drive there and a better drive home ( warmer & less traffic ) but I still hate the PA turnpike . the weather made our 760 mile trip almost perfect !!
  4. robert, thanks for info , again sorry we can't make the 400, much to do before trip to LOG , say HI to everyone and have a safe & sane event, glenn
  5. robert , unable to attend tour, but interested in hearing details about recent "incident" in cleveland area . thanks, glenn
  6. I absolutely agree with Boxologist , forget the pets !!!!!!!!
  7. touring in a caterham . just returned from watkins glen . 4 days , 750 miles. 2 people . we do not camp , there is room for 2 duffles , laptop, car cover , small cooler. also have caterham luggage rack & 35L waterproof bag ,kayaker & boating people use them, it fits rack perfectly and is yellow so you get some extra visibility . we stop every 150 miles for gas & leg stetch . also for touring back roads a sump guard is a MUST.
  8. stebel nautilus compact air horn . around $40 from various motorcycle stores. easy to install & very loud !
  9. anybody planning on attending ? we will be driving caterham from N.E Ohio on friday am. hope to see some USA7s people there .. glenn
  10. today, while prepping car for our trips to watkins glen vintage & LOG. I noticed rubber caps on intake manifold vacuum ports just below throttle body, were starting to split , it's a svt , but every engine usually has vacuum ports that are capped . easy to fix , bought assortment at napa for $5 . if the cap comes off . you have a instant & large vacuum leak. just another thing to check next time you have the bonnet off.
  11. anybody going to mid-ohio this weekend ?
  12. rain - NO ,, shine - YES ,, we are registered , driving in the rain then standing around in the rain for several hours used to be fun , but not anymore. hope weather is good !!
  13. I also would really like to hear about the work arounds that were done to make the ecu "happy" our car with ford ecu calibration RLA6 runs great but will not pass emission test in ohio. ecu tries to read sensors that do not exist and throws cel codes P0443 & P0453. related to carbon canister & gas tank pressure sensor. we registered as collector car.
  14. there is a silver csr260 in northheast ohio , the same one that was at log in indy.
  15. we have 03 cat with svt, I went to napa and bought std radiator hose that had the shapes that I needed and just cut it to the right sizes using old hoses as patterns. I think it was from a chevy p/u truck. seems to be working fine and only cost $14.
  16. in sept. 2008 we purchased a 06 caterham that was built & reg.in ny. transfer to ohio title required a simple inspection , verification of vin & mileage. then apply for plates. this car would not pass emission test (no cat) so we applied for & received collector vehicle plates. my point is get titled in ohio if it is easier, then if there a emission insp. problem you can apply for collector plate which is emission exempt. this works for caterham's because ohio bmv recognizes it as a collector vehicle. hope this helps a little.
  17. I have this sump guard installed on our caterham . it works very well . I've had several opportunities to test it. i.e.cord wood in the road , construction debris, ect. easy to install & remove. with the price of raceline sumps. a good sump guard is a must !!
  18. we drove many incredible mountain roads while attending LOG 27 . you have to be careful because CDOT doesn't spend a lot of money on armco or do as the locals " drive fast -pass on curves" . sounds like a great trip !!
  19. WEST SYSTEMS is a good source for information & supplies. I have used them for many years for marine and auto repair. they have a good selection of manuals, including vacuum bagging techniques.
  20. have cat/svt , red light in tach not connected. have red light on dash for ford/pats ( immobiliser in UK ). I test drove 2000 zetec dedion, red led in tach came on when car started and stayed on while running. cat/uk manual calls this light " ignition warning light " owner didn't know what is was for. except it was always on while car was running. as for codes I have the "usual". no MIL on dash, but if ecu says MIL is on you probably will not pass emission test.
  21. my parts sources, for caterham - ben at caterham usa has been very helpful and has gotten parts I have needed. for ford svt parts I use local ford dealer, local NAPA store and even ebay a few times. other misc. bits, I have had good luck with summit racing & pegasus racing. I have also got some parts from UK . only problem is shipping sometimes costs more than parts .
  22. My ADVICE !! if you decide to buy a assembled car , after a careful inspection and a LONG test drive , try to determine the skill level of the person who assembled the car. bought a caterham last year and didn't follow my own advice . I found an lot of small problems and a few large ones. after about $1500 in additional parts and a lot of my labor, the car is amazing, incredible, fun & RELIABLE.
  23. just returned from spill the wine tour.. thanks to bob, mary and trina for a great event!!
  24. we're planning on it, depends on how we and the car survive watkins glen !!
  25. thanks, it appears by quantity & amperage to match the duratech fuse panel. which makes sense both being ford products. the fuse that blows is 15 and picture shows a 30 (it's marked battery supply) could it be that simple ?
