Kitcat, what Mobile 1 oil are you using?
-
Does the front undertray affect engine cooling? I was considering an undertray when I get my 7 build underway as to help get a some downforce and maybe help w/ the drag. Might help keep a cleaner engine bay too by keeping rocks from bouncing up. Is the driveshaft also covered up?
-
Did you also make a undertray for the engine compartment or just the rear?
-
Did you use a clearcoat after the basecoat? If I go that route I might wet sand it to get rid of the runs. Great results nice to see someone not afraid to paint their car.
-
Got an update? I'm curious as to what was wrong.
-
I wasn't sure which section would be a good place. Maybe the moderator could move it to the appropriate one.
-
That's pretty neat looking. Might end up on my options list. But I guess I should ask what does the normal filler cap look like. So to unlatch that aero cap you just flip it up and unscrew it?
-
I suppose someone could make a urthane copy of the wings. It might flex too much at higher speeds and rub the wheels. I hoped I prepped the aluminum on the boat well enough. Used an angle grinder w/ a 60 grit flap style sandpaper wheel. It was a pain to sand around all the rivets. Pro liners spray a lot more material than a spray can so another can or two would make it thick enough. You could also just use a roll on bedliner.

Its been bugging me for a while as to what the caterham option aero filler cap looks like. Does anyone have one or a pic of one? I've looked at the caterham uk site and didn't see it on their online store.
-
Anyone try using Duplicolor's truck bedliner spray for the undersides of their wings? At $11.99 per can it looks like a great deal instead of getting a professional spray. Just curious because my dad and I just used some to cover the bottom of a aluminum boat to help seal the leaky rivets. It would also allow you to put whatever thickness coating you prefer.

Blue dot= guy. Red dot= gal. Orange square= place. So what do those yellow/orange dots mean?
-
Is it possible to have UPS cover the cost of re-upholstering the seat? That way you could get it customized if you wanted to and likely it would be faster than getting a new seat sourced.

God. This sucks. I just found out a few days ago that my boss is going on vacation in May-June, so I can't go anywhere until July.

The engine comes w/ ancillaries that you bolt on to a bare block. What it includes depends on which spec Roadsport you want to get, ie the 170hp or 210hp. Seems like most owners w/ the duratec think that the 1st gear is too short, but Caterham sells a T9 w/ a taller 1st gear or you can opt for the 6spd. There are various other aftermarket gearsets too. The spare is an option thats comes w/ the carrier, it costs $586. Not sure about the tire sizing. I also looked into the tire sizes and 195/50 is much more common. Hopefully someone w/ a 7 can add some input whether there is enough fender clearance for the slightly taller tire. The paint is optional. The car comes in bare aluminum w/ the choice of black, red, green or yellow colored fiberglass pieces. Hopefully that helps you out. I believe there's a few guys in your area w/ 7 that you can talk to in person. Scannon is in that area he has a Caterham SV w/ a turboed miata drivetrain.

Got any specs for the Seven? Great looking cars btw.

Well looks like I might do a roadtrip w/ friends up to Fairbanks then Anchorage during the Memorial weekend next month. 1760 miles roundtrip hope the gas prices don't go up too much.
-
I don't mind the lack of thigh bolsters, I plan on getting the 4pt road harness and if needed upgrade to a 5 or 6pt. Alaskaossie, can you let me know when O'Malley gets his SV on the road? Hopefully I'll be able to drop a few pounds by then. If I can get a ride in it, I might be able to fly in on a day off. I'm off on Sundays and Mondays.
-
Yellowss7, what's the rev limit on your k series? I don't suppose anyone knows if they make a 6speed w/ an overdrive 6th gear?
-
You guys are still getting snow? Its been sunny days here in Juneau for a few days now. I switched over to my summer tires since I didn't want to wear out my winter studless tires w/ too much dry pavement driving. When is your Seven going to be finished? Dang now that makes me really tempted to go to Anchorage. Wish I had more air mileage. Do you have any specs on O'Malley's SV?

$1000 to clear shield my nosecone & hood? Ouch!

Are your rear wings going to be covered too? -
Planning on getting a Caterham SV but haven't ridden in one yet. How does the SV seat compare to a 2004 Subaru WRX, 2006 Mitsubishi EVO 9, 2005 & 2006 Subaru WRX STi and a 2008 Mitsubishi EVO X. I can fit in the seats listed but the EVO X is a tight fit for me. Anyone know of a car that has similar feeling seat compared to an SV? I just want a heads up before flying somewhere to ride in an SV.

This is what I got from Caterham USA when pricing out a Seven. Transmissions: Ford T-9 5-spd 36G003B: Gearbox – 5 Speed – Duratec -This is the same T-9 transmission that has been used for years aside from a few minor changes. Don't really need a specialist, just a lot of patience and a good electrical multimeter tester. You can buy a decent one at radioshack. If you already have a tester you can test the ignition switch to see which wire is supposed to have power. Then you trace that wire until you find the where the break is. Then its a matter of replacing a bad connector or bad wire. I've troubleshooted worse. A jeep liberty w/ no functioning brake lights. Ended up tearing out the whole interior except for the dash. Problem was a leaking roof rack rail letting water in the cabin and corroding a connector underneth the rear seats. Car had at least 1 inch of water in it when I pulled the carpet.

Any of you guys use a different weight for winter use? Also how often do you change your oil? The manual says every 6000 miles or once a year, but that seems a bit long. I usually change the oil on my WRX at 3 months or 3000 miles which ever first and I use 5w-30 mobile 1 full synthetic.
