  1. They must have some rich parents - all under the age of 21! I was driving a '71 AMC Hornet 4dr when I was that age.
  2. Peter, Those Caterham seats look comfortable. I will try out the ones in Skip's car when I see him next. Mike
  3. Thanks everyone! Seats are definitely next on my "new" list of things to do. I've got a couple more ideas in store for the winter.
  4. Skip, Thanks for the offer! I suspect it would probably take a bit of work to get the seat in. I'm thinking now that I may go with something from MOG as recommended by one of our fellow USAers. Mike
  5. I've decided to keep my Birkin. I just couldn't stomach the thought of having an empty garage. Not sure if I'll drive it much, but will likely take the advice of a couple USA7ers and replace the seats. Thank you everyone for your support! Mike
  6. Ditto...what happened? I hope you are okay.
  7. The Zetec in my Birkin puts down quite a bit of power despite the high altitude here in Denver. It is a hoot to drive and most of all, very reliable.
  8. Very nice! Hope you can get some miles on it before winter arrives.
  9. Tom, Thank you very much. I have several other hobbies to keep me busy, but I must admit that cars are my true passion. I hope that my Birkin sells soon so I can move on. BTW, it was a pleasure meeting you at Skip's place. Mike
  10. Peter, I believe the header and exhaust are factory Birkin parts. The good people at the Birkin Owners forum may be able to assist with getting you more information on the exhaust and header. Here's the link... http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/birkinowners/ Thank you very much for the compliments! Regards, Mike
  11. Jason - Many thanks for your endorsement and offer to lend additional information on the history of the car. Mike
  12. Thanks - Getting in and out of the car also causes much discomfort. I have the same problem with my Elise, so it is likely both will go.
  13. Sorry, I didn't include that... VIN: AE9B1RK1NW1AB1033 My understanding is that it is a '99 chassis, but was titled as a '01 Current mileage is 16,721 (includes 870 miles with new Stack Dash) Includes weather gear and all extra parts that I have laying around No heater
  14. Regrettably, I must sell my beloved Birkin S3. My back never quite returned to normal after I broke it last year while mountain biking and driving the Birkin is rather painful. I am asking $27,000 or best reasonable offer. I have most of the original documentation for this car as well as a folder with all receipts for parts and labor since I purchased it from Jason (Marine7) early last year. Overall, the car is in magnificent shape, both inside and outside. There is very slight wear on the leatherette door panels and the canvas boot cover. Over the past year, much of the car was completely rebuilt. It has new fenders, new paint, new dash, new gauges, new ISIS wiring harness, new wheels, and much more. Engine is a fuel injected 2.0L Ford ZETEC mated to a Ford T-9 transmission. PM or email me at mjoneill100 at yahoo dot com if interested. 15. Your car looks fantastic! You've really done a super job with your engine swap and foot box upgrade.
  16. I'm by no means an expert on Birkins, but thanks anyway! I think most enthusiasts on USA7s have forgotten more than I know. IMO, the price range as advertised on Ebay seems reasonable. Based on the photos alone, the car appears to be in average condition, but would clean up nicely. The Mazda engine could be turbo or supercharged.
  17. Yes, the Birkin is dimensionally the same as a Lotus S3 or non-SV bodied Caterham.
  18. Rag1998 was looking for a Birkin.
  19. Unfortunately I will be unable to attend. Between work, grad school, and kids, I am swamped. Heading through Denver or thereabouts? If so, perhaps we can link up.
