  1. Anyone here with a LHD imperial S3, with hydraulic clutch? Thanks.
  2. 2002 S3 Arch chassis. This is my first LHD and hydraulic clutch 7. I thought it was odd that the holes to mount the master cylinder to the pedal box are offset, so that the cylinder is not vertical. This is apparently to prevent the clutch and brake cylinders interfering. Is this common to all LHD S3s? And is it just a result of the pedal-spacing in a LHD chassis (since RHD chassis don't have the slanted clutch MC)? Thank you. http://i.imgur.com/qkLvOlN.jpg?1
  3. Although I ended up buying an imperial project car from a user on this forum, I've spoken to most of the US dealers and if I was going to buy a new car, I would not, for one second, go to anyone other than Josh at Rocky Mountain Caterham. This guy is an enthusiast first and a Caterham dealer second. Where in CA are you? I'm in San Diego.
  4. I've been looking to fab some black rear wing protectors and I think ABS might be a great solution - thanks! Do you think the 0.04 thickness would work OK in this application?
  5. Does anyone happen to have the Ford part number for the starter motor used on a Duratec Caterham, please?

    New Build

Thanks for sharing your build with us! I’m also interested where you sourced the shiny 2.0 Duratec, please! Presumably it was rebuilt here in the US?
  7. Thanks all - I think I will order the Schroth Profi II ASM.
  8. Which FIA ones did you end up with?
  9. Thanks. I run the original Tilletts: https://caterhamparts.co.uk/race-seats/4498-composite-bucket-seat-race-academy-b-bird.html
  10. I need to pick harnesses for my Caterham build: are there any special requirements for FIA certification etc. to get onto a track day in the US? Specifically the main California tracks. I ask because my car will be mainly road use and I was looking at some non-FIA 4-point harnesses: https://caterhamparts.co.uk/seatbelts-harnesses/4175-seatbelt-4-point-quick-release-black-rh.html
  11. Thanks all. Although I grew up a few miles from the Avon factory, the Toyos are significantly cheaper, so I’m starting with those! I spoke to a few folks who ran both and couldn’t find a big difference on the road.
  12. Thanks Croc. Emerald makes a harness specifically for a Duratec in a Caterham: http://www.emeraldm3d.com/duratec-caterham-wiring-harness-loom-for-emerald-ecu.html I'm making my own chassis harness and will probably use this Emerald engine harness if I go with their ECU (which I probably will).
  13. Emerald: I'm pretty sure the K6 is an "open" ECU, that can be tuned by any shop. They told me they could even help the dyno operator remotely, using TeamViewer. MBE: so are the ones supplied by Caterham "locked", while aftermarket ones are "unlocked"? I quite like the idea of it being done remotely by SBD, assuming I can find a compliant shop here. Harness: if there is a ready-made harness that suits the Caterham chassis and Duratec engine layout, I'd probably buy that, but I'm able to make my own custom harness too.
  14. I'm also in the market for an ECU for my Duratec build. Emerald K6 is top of my list, since they offer Caterham wiring looms and should have a pretty good base map. I've also found them very responsive to e-mails. Other contenders are Omex 600 and the MBE 9A4. I'm not sure how easy it is to get a US dyno operator to use the different software, since they're not that common over here?
  15. Thanks Croc! Anyone know if the R888Rs are road-legal in the US, please?
  16. Looking for a wiper motor assembly for a LHD car (imperial, if it matters). Thanks!
  17. I met this guy in a parking lot and lived to tell the tale! Thanks senna223 for the trade :seeya:
  18. Looking for a set of road tires for a Caterham build (Duratec 2.0). Running 13x6 wheels all-round and there seem to be two good options: Avon ZZS in 185/55/13 Toyo R888R in 185/60/13 Assuming I don't care about the difference in sidewall/ride-height/gearing between these two, which would you go for? I'm in SoCal and this is a weekend warrior in the canyons. I don't typically drive in the wet, but my preferred time to drive is in the cooler months, when it can be down in the 40s of an early Sunday morning in the hills. Also - TireRack lists the R888R as competition-only. But they're road-legal, right? I ask because I've seen folks refer to different compounds on the R888R (soft and medium). I'm just wondering if the US supply is the softer compound which is only for track use... Thanks!
  19. Thanks all. I've decided to go with the "early/pre-2015" Sigma/Duratec setup that Caterham uses and appears to have served them well. This employs a Ford fuel pump & sender combo, which is internally regulated (not electronically, like the later design) and return-less. I will then use the OEM return-less Ford fuel rail to suit.
  20. Did you end up installing the MXS Strada? Considering one and intrigued how it went.
  21. Interested in windscreen and may have some wheels for you! PM sent.
  22. Looking for a FIA roll bar for a LHD, S3, imperial chassis (i.e. the single-diagonal bar produced by Arch). Thanks!
  23. Does anyone have a Caterham S3 windscreen available, please? Seems a long shot, but preferably with black surround and stanchions. Thanks!
  24. For those of you running external regulators, are they vacuum-referenced? In most setups I've seen, the vacuum port is just left open to atmosphere.
  25. The main objection I've seen to the "dead head" config is the risk of vapor lock from the fuel getting hot sitting in the rail. Any issues with this at all? I believe the in-tank pump I'm planning to use is regulated to 3 bar.
