That was better than the two corvettes driven by turkeys!

think about how small the sparkplugs are, and the real cooling system, and hardened crank and other parts! THIS is incredible!

That wasn't a hummingbird, that was a flying insect as seen through a Go Pro camera.

Now THAT'S a great add! You won't forget the add much less the product.

I'll easily lose my lisence with a $200. 65 hp engine. They'd lock me up with a 400 hp $33,000 engine, assuming I survived the drive!

Screw that! I can drag my knee at 140 but there's no way you could get me on a ride like that! I have to have a little more control of my life!

"All vehicles must have a silhouette that is of the original make and model, with the body outline remaining true to the original stock body shape." Well, I guess that rules out all the wide-bodied, hood scooped Lotus 7-ish copies out there.

For that bit of extra boost to pass the V8s on the track

With my bike building background this is deviantly inspiring! -
I'm unable to edit my last post from my iPhone; what I meant to say was "unheated" garage! And thanks to esconditoron for the compliment!

I'm hoping for this spring. It's a steep learning curve trying to balance a 40hr a week job, taking on fabrication projects on the side and putting in design/fab time into the Lotus, all while dealing with a tiny ingested garage. I just found a period steering wheel and I'm waiting on a deal for some early bench seats that will save me the time upulstering my own. I'll post more pits soon.

Thanks for that link Bruce! Watching original 7's and drinking coffee is a bad combination for me; I'm starting my day at the redline!

I seem to remember there was an aluminum finished (silver) 7 competing on this date. Both vids keep fueling the fire to build my 7! Of course I won't be entering any "legal" hill climbs with mine. Thanks for sharing the vid!

Croc, if you hear any flaming from me it will be against U.S. football! Theres too much boasting and bragging from a bunch of padded up neanderthals that run no more than 12 minutes for the entire game! And get countless substitutions for something as trivial as cramping or braking a fingernail! Its not even a team sport; if the quarterback sucks, the whole team looses. Rugby, the WHOLE team handles the ball, hits and gets hit for eighty minutes with a five minute half. You'd better be bleeding or have something separated if you want to be one pf the two substitutions allowed! Its sad how the American schoolastic system revolves around their football.
-
Did you know that "football" in the U.S. started out as rugby? Thats why its called a "touchdown" and yet the ball is no longer touched down to score the points. In Rugby, thats still a live ball and where its touched is where the ball comes out for the conversion kick.

I got lucky and just picked up a pair of NOS 516's for $125.00 Whats REALLY hard to find is "affordable" Wingard 1055 tail lights!

New Zealand's All Blacks beat France's "blah blah blahs" in the Rugby World Cup!!!!! For those who haven't played Rugby, the original version is 15 per side for two 40 minute halves. It becomes even more a running game in "tens" where the same size pitch is played with only 10 per side for 10 minute halves. If 10's doesn't offer enough heart attacks there is 7s where 7 players face off for seven minutes on the same size pitch. As American prepares a 7's team for the Olympics it is often referred to USA7s.

I doubt any kind of injury or medical condition; That looked like a simple low-side to me. It takes a couple seconds to recover, get a grip of the bike and pull yourself back on ALL while correcting the trajectory of the bike. He had plenty of run-out to pull it off but not enough seconds.
-
Well, technically those would be redundant to anyone who has switched to cycle fenders mounted to their uprights. The original Lotus 7 had Lucas L516's mounted to its "cycle fenders" which were fixed to the chassis.

Scannon, thanks for sharing that story! This makes me feel a little less apprehensive about testing a car I built from a 30 year old drawing! Did Chapman ever install an ejection seat?
-
Budlite Bruce, All the fun from your 1700lb bugeye with 47hp becomes amplified in a 900lb Lotus 7! I subscribe to the philosophy that it is more fun to go fast in a slow car although if your old BMC 948-A motor is a monster, does that make my BMC 1275-A godzilla? I'm trembling with just the thought of a whopping 65hp!
-
I subscribe to the philosophy if you're thinking that much about your butt, you're not driving hard enough!

I get teary eyed watching fellow track-mate's reactions and the five laps they rode in his honor. Its very sad but we all accept certain calculated risks of living... and racing. I'm happy to have survived all the situations I got myself into throughout my 46 years and still believe its better to die living than to live dying. Some of us are just luckier than others.
