  1. Some say he Auto-x's a Se7en on the weekends......
  2. Here's a few pictures from yesterday. Karina and I had a blast. You're absolutely right; I was excited to start the build before, now I'm chomping at the bit.
  3. I just wanted to throw out a big thanks to both Bill and Peter for the rides yesterday at the auto-x. Those were my first rides in a Se7en, and I was really impressed. If I ever had doubt's about my new project, they completely disappeared. It was a pleasure to meet you and your families. I'll post pics from the event when I get home later today.
  4. I don't mean to threadjack, but I had to ask. Has anyone here gone to extra lengths to insulate the foot well? I was thinking about using some of that automotive adhesive backed insulation under the carpet. I don't know exactly how it would work yet though as I have not picked up my Birkin yet.
  5. :iagree:Real driving requires a stopwatch.
  6. My current ride is one that fits into the rice rocket category, and I get that all the time. Some dude hanging out the window screaming some quote from the Fast and the Furious. I notice that the BMW and Audi drivers are the quickest to show off their cars around me though. For reference here is what I drive.
  7. I have about two seasons of Auto-X on my Dunlop Durezza Star Specs and I love them. Lots of feedback, and great grip in the wet. I find them a little slippy when cold though, and they wear a little quicker than other tires I've seen. I will run a set on the Birkin and see if the results are the same as my 3600 lb WRX.
  8. I like the wheels. I like the idea of a little more wild colour though. Of course I would, I painted the wheels on my blue WRX, bright copper.
  9. Yup, they are on backwards. The gentleman I purchased it from had three, and he quickly slapped on the wheels to move them around the shop. Only one wheel is on correctly.
  10. Here she is. I won't be able to get her home for a couple weeks though. I'm twitching to get wrenching.
  11. Great scenery out there. I was in Canmore today purchasing my Birkin, and on the drive home I was daydreaming about what a great drive it will be once I have mine complete and registered. Good to see folks out enjoying these cars, I hope to be joining you all soon.
  12. I am happy to say I was able to make an offer on the 99' Birkin kit I have been looking at. I just have to find a way to get it home now.
  13. Absolutely gorgeous! I always remember a few "key" cars that have really inspired my own projects. This Birkin is now one. Now I just need the project.
  14. Awesome! I have not seen that site before. Thanks for the links. Any personal experiences to add to the thread?
  15. I have been looking into my first 7 with great excitement, and find myself learning a lot about making this car work out for me. I apologize if this has been covered before, however I was unable to locate it through a couple searches. The car I am looking at is partly assembled, and has never been registered anywhere. The majority of the assembly has been completed here in Alberta, and I will be finishing it off here. I have checked with a shop, and the current owner, but still wanted to triple check on the process of registering a 7 in Alberta. It sounds like the process is simple enough, and can be done by the shop. A friend who just imported a car (Mercedes) from the US, mentioned that I should be cautious as there can be complications. I hope to be able to enjoy the car during the short summer in Alberta commuting to work and Auto-x's. Has anyone had complications in registering a homebuilt car in Alberta? Is there anything I should be aware of before tackling the build? Thanks in advance for the help.
  16. I was not into the Yellow at first, but having seen it in person, I'm into it now. As I understand it the Red one is sold already. Thanks for the welcome.
  17. You bet. Those are the ones. I don't want to curse anything, so I won't go into detail yet. The current owner is very enthusiastic, and all around a great guy.
  18. Hi there everyone. This is my first post on this forum, and I thought I would use it to introduce myself. I have been a fan of cars since before I can remember, and a fan of 7's ever since I first laid eyes on one. I have had a few cars in my past, and I could not help but work on them. My first car was '68 Beetle that I went full custom show car on, followed by a '95 Lada Niva. The Niva was an interesting car to work on, and eventually became a Frankenstein's monster of parts from various other cars and trucks. Most recently I have been involved heavily in the Subaru scene. My WRX has taken on a life of it's own with the amount of time and modifications I have devoted to it. I have been Auto-x'ing it for the last few years and have finally been getting competitive. Recently a set of Birkin's came up for sale in my area, and I hope to make an offer on one very soon. It still has to be completed, and I'm a little nervous about taking on the challenge of a full car assembly as I have never done this before. I know I'll have lots of questions for all of you, and I want to thank you all in advance for helping a noob out on building one of his dream cars. Cross your fingers for me.
