Jack at Kinetic is good plus Curtis Unlimited in Cali has fiberglass parts. My nose and fenders are from them but I have been hearing reports of questionable quality. They need prep work not paint and bolt on. I have a +4" frame and had to cut the nose in half. I added 4" with epoxied Aluminum and fiberglass layup the middle. I just seen a 442 uses a standard width nose but calls for a taller height, Curtis has taller noses also.

I checked out your car Skip and liked how it turned out. I have heard of guys using Rhinoliner and that may be an option down the road. My guards will lip under the fender edge and will be unpolished. Its a tough grade, .012" and a screwdriver won't go through it, plus only a couple ounces. I did about 300 miles last year so it will take a few years for the stone chips to turn it crappy.

Thanks for the measurements Bob. My car is a scratch built not a Caterham. The fenders are suppose to be reproduction Lotus from Curtis Unlimited. I'll use your dimensions for reference, the smaller guard size might not cover most of my stone chips.

I am going to put SS guards on my rear fenders but don't want them to look too big. A rough measurement of length ,15" on the outside and 19" near the body. Its half way between elbow and shoulder across the fender. Does this sound about the right size?

You guys need to embrace your inner child. Go out and eat a handful of snow, careful of the yellow and brown kind. Now this important, find a winter vehicle that gives you as much fun as the seven and go play in it. Here is my choice:

Yep, that's it. I didn't know it was advertised, he gave me a picture link.

Hi Geran, Welcome to the site. Years ago I talked with a guy from Pittsburgh who built his 2nd seven and he convinced me to go with a motorcycle engine. Last month he called to say he was selling his, its been sitting the last couple years. He was the instructor who gave Jeff Underwood a ride and convinced Jeff to go BEC also. His name is Paul Petrun, 412-974-5695 http://www.flickr.com/photos/44365211@N02/sets/72157622615937015/show/with/4077680225/ He built it as a track/autox car. I don't know much about it but maybe close to what you want.

Hank, help all us out. Take your bathroom scale and 3 2x4 blocks to the garage. 1 block under each wheel then move the scale around each corner and add them up. It will be close, my fronts were around 235# and rears around 275#.

I thought about building an electric car before but this doesn't excite me,pun intended, put a playing card in the spokes or something. 14,000 explosions every minute at the end of my feet with my ears tingling that stirs my soul. Turning on an air-compressor motor doesn't. Bob, the trike looks great, just the thing to have for the sidewalks of New York city or roaming the pits. Are you going to bring it to Carlise? Is it your Seven's dinghy?

Not weighing this weekend due to SNOW, right.

Here are some build pictures. A standard frame should have enough room. The tape is across the velocity stacks. the pan is around an inch below the frame. I did not want an air filter sticking out so a custom air box was fabricated. I concede a ITD filter like Jeff Underwood's car will make more horsepower but I'm not losing much and prefer the aesthetics. I believe the nose is 1" taller than standard, you can see I had to split it and add 4".

Bruce, I made mine but here are a few bad photos to see how I mounted mine. http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showthread.php?t=694 hope it helps.

Hi Al, I also looked at those tires for my car since I was doing 13" and wanted the lightest for rotational weight. I was discouraged when I found out they are easy to puncture and prone to tramlining. They are 10 pounds total, where my A048s are 16 pounds with the 5/32 tread depth. My steel wheels are just under 12 pounds and I think the Kodiak Aluminum racing wheels are 8 pounds but about $300 each. I went from 32# to 28# per wheel and it was a jump in performance. Just some numbers for you to crunch.

Am I the only one that has considered the electronics? The same company that invented I-drive and the 850. I believe its motorcycles also have anti-lock brakes. I think this would be a terrible engine and I built my seven from the ground up. I like the CBX engine, even being air-cooled. I could deal with the cooling issues as part of sorting out of the car. I would rather cast, machine and assemble my own engine than deal with a newer sophisticated Beemer engine. Maybe a Mega-Squirting genius might be able to build a system to run it and then tune it. The car is simple, keep the engine simple.

Mike, only motorcycles are allowed to be windshield less. I'm 99% sure even Dean's series 1 needs a full 12" windshield or it can't be registered with PennDOT ,pre'48 registered street rods are the exception. I don't want to be explaining my scientific experiments to any LEOs. Please inform us of your findings from Ohio when you get a chance.

I know a Seven is not aerodynamic compared to new cars. My high top conversion van will top out around 65mph down a steep hill. My last drive a couple days ago, I went down some of those Pa. hills in the Seven. The top of the hill I was at 52mph, pushed in the clutch and wondered how fast over the national limit I would be at the bottom. My van felt like a runaway freight train at the bottom, the Seven manage an astounding ..........51mph. One back county hill the van hit 60 before having to jump on the brakes while the Seven sat at 46/47mph for most of the hill. Has anybody done a neutral downhill coast to see how fast the air will let you go?

.....at least my neighborhood. Its temporary parking before winter. The barn, a great playhouse..er workshop needs TLC but will have heat for next winter.
-
I'm going to guesstimate 1125# with a few gallons of gas. I'm just over 1000# but with no roll cage and aluminum flooring.

Sorry for your loss, but at least you have all winter to get it running. I don't run baffles but run the oil level a little higher in the glass window. Here's an idea for your Christmas list. http://www.fluke-motorsport.co.uk/honda-fireblade-2003-sump-baffle-p-1063.html I was told the difference between a 900cc and 1000cc is a huge difference in drive ability because of the torque. I don't want to convince you to upgrade but unless their is a cheap spare sitting beside the car look into a liter engine.

Nope.....Olive oil, its Ferrari's first bio diesel engine. There going green.
