Anyone using anything else?

I have a generic rearview mirror from a SUV (wider than most). The button that holds it is glued to the top of the windshield glass (just low enough for me to slide it down onto the button and screw in place).

At first I used the generic windshield glue available at auto stores .. but that did not hold. Then I asked a windshield glass supplier to glue my button in place and it has held for two years now.

Maybe I'm a cheapskate but I find the mirrorsforsevens a little pricey even though I am sure it is a good product. I need a good clip-on type. My center rear-view mirror rests on the dash. Anyone using anything else? There's lots of panoramic clip-ons out there but wondering if anyone has one they like.

I use a convex mirror designed for use in a mini van to see the kids in the backseat. It is suction cup mounted and adjustable so you can position it to see clearly.

Here is a photo of it on my car.

Works well and was inexpensive.

I installed a suction cup rear view mirror at the top of the windscreen and took a ride today. Much better view, much safer. I'm still looking for a vintage mirror thought.

For us S2K owners without windscreens the MFS option is out but the blind spot issue is still well in place. I am using the larger SPA mirrors and even made longer mounting stalks out of matching round aluminum stock I drilled and tapped to match. I'm still "under mirrored" and find quick lane changes on the highway and passing on the track a bit of a heart stopper.

If anybody out there happy with their larger section side mirrors would like to comment or post a photo I'd love to hear from them. Thanks!!

My windscreen guy used a very thin sharp chisel and just gave it one hit and off it came. I was amazed as you could nearly swing off the mirror without it coming off.

I haven't tried this trick but if all else fails!!!!!

Cheers

The original Caterham mirror is glued in place with double-faced tape. It can be removed with chlorinated brake cleaner.

If the mirror has been attached with cyanoacrylate adhesive (super glue), it gets more difficult.

Here are a couple of threads I found on other forums.

I removed my standard Caterham mirror with a little help from my wife's hair dryer. Just a few miniutes and the mirror twisted off with no problems. No prying or tools envolved. IMO MFS is a great product. It eliminates a large void in my windscreen. A nice ride to a Car show in Galt Ca. and all adjustment issues were resolved .

Cheers to all Seven Owners
