I'm widening my wheels/tires 245 45 16 (Toyo R888). I made a cycle fender bracket (stay).

I have 3 pictures, can someone tell me which position of the cycle fender is ideal?

Picture 1 ? or 2? or 3?

I vote for the 3rd one. It will provide the best protection for the bodywork from debris picked up by the tire. I prefer the aesthetics of it as well.

Oh...I see.

I didn't realized this problem not until you mentioned. Those rocks hitting my face, screwing up my body panels and filling up pebbles in my tub.

Do you think the #3 position is bad in aerodynamic?

The whole car is bad in aerodynamic. I don't think it will make a noticeable difference but then I am not Adrian Newey so my opinion is worth about what it cost you. :D

Your opinion is good....I will consider doing so.

What about the rear? My car is an ATOM, i can position the fender like picture #1? There is no need to slant them.....right?

It would be kinder to go with #3 again, just to be considerate of those who are trying to catch you from behind. Otherwise you can put it wherever you think looks best.

 

My apologies, I thought we were talking about a Se7en, although not great I'm guessing the Atom has better aerodynamics than Se7ens.

I believe that the fronts should have the rear lower than the front of the fender, and in the rear of the car, do the opposite, ie the front is lower than the rear of the fender. On my car I put the front of the rear fenders even with the bottom of the body.DSC_0967_Medium.jpg

For best aero, position 1 is better than 2, which is better than 3. Covering as much of the advancing face of the tire tread (above the rotation axis) as possible will reduce apparent air speed at the tire (from car speed plus the surface speed of the tire to just car speed). Is also worst rock position unless you go with a longer (increased circumference) fender.
