...but thought I'd share a few photos of the Mallock. These are from a trackday with 10/10ths at Putnam Park back at the end of October.

Lap times? I almost went to that event Steve, I would have had I known you'd be there!

So how does it compare to the Caterham? More areo of course. I would hit 105-108 mph on Putnam's straight in my mighty X-flow. Add 10 mph, at least, in Zetec SVT powered Cat, what is your top speed there?

Mike - no speedometer, so you inspired me to do some calculations. Took a fast and dirty tire circumference measurement, and with the 3.7 rear end 6500 rpm = 118 and 7000 rpm = 127. I was somewhere between those at end of the main straight. And I have no idea what my lap times were.

 

The Caterham seems softer and more forgiving. In some ways easier to drive. It seems like the harder I drive the Mallock, the happier it is. The weekend after the track day I went for a drive in the Seven, and it felt civilized and relaxed.

 

I'm running treaded vintage Dunlops with the tread pattern from the late '60s, so I'm sure it would be considerable quicker with some current slicks. But they are fun to drive with.

hi! I've raced against Mallocks often! they are fast fast fast when the driver is good. much better aero, more rubber, more power (much more than my current xflow) and a totally purpose built race car. the two that I typically come up against are powered by very hot 1800 cc (custom cranks) dry sumped xflows (about 210 hp), and have more aero tricks especially on the front wing/fender area than yours does. I'm betting that they are slightly later models. what's in your Mallock for a powerplant? you should bring it out here and race with VRG at Summit Point (I'll be there this weekend for the last race of the season, the Turkey Bowl) and Watkins Glen. NJMP, Limerock, and a few other eastern tracks.

It has a 1600 Crossflow with a full race build. Steel crank, Carillo rods, 12:5 CR, etc. About 150 hp. The driver is definitely the weak link.

 

The plan was to bring it NJMP for last July's Seven event, but I had a clutch issue that I didn't get repaired in time. Schedule permitting, my plan is to bring it this year.
