fastg
This facility is about 30 miles south of Washington DC directly off I95, a great location. Well it was interesting, for a track built in 2016 this is a poster child for how not to do it, I have never seen so many concrete barriers in my life. It's a shame I don't know what these people were thinking, none of the motorcycle organizations hold events there, the PCA booked the track but cancelled everything after the first event. Checkout the video, It's a left handed track which is also strange, I cannot think I have ever been on a left handed track. Turn 1 is a very fast left hand bend, but your immediately funneled between 2 concrete walls, any wreck there is going to be huge. http://roadcourse.dominionraceway.com/ I was hoping this would be a nice close home track, but I will not be returning, NJMP is amazing. Croc
Anti-clockwise tracks are not an issue. I have run many, they are just not that common on the US East Coast. I can see many reasons for concern: - turn 1 exit barriers get awfully tight. - drainage ditches right next to armco - bridge abutments look like a partial offset crash waiting to happen. - strange layout - very tight in the first third then wide open in the second two thirds. I guess layout was dictated by land layout? PCA are notorious for crashing. Their accident record is atrocious. So understandably they would be concerned and reach the obvious logical conclusion. Dave W
Yupper! I see what you mean. Someone forgot to tell the track designer that when you hit a barrier that close to the track racing surface, you typically bounce back into on coming traffic. Not a lot off run-off or pull over areas in a several places to prevent a pile up. $*#%T happens, you need a way around, to prevent a pile up. Kitcat
Hard to believe, given all that is known about track design at this point. They put walls everywhere someone might slide off, and some right next to the asphalt. The low wall after the underpass looks like it would just flip cars upside down, not actually stop them. fastg
After actually getting on on the track I did not even notice the anti-clockwise rotation, it felt totally normal. Or maybe I was just transfixed by all the concrete barriers. Graham
