achova
Fun weekend with the Caterham CS3 out for a nice Sunday drive. Love the 1600 Kent and the Brooklands screens provide better protection than expected. I do have an issue with worn shifter bushings. I've disassembled and the forward bushing are shot. I've searched the forum here as well as online and haven't found a source. I expect Dave Bean Engineering may have what I need, but any other pointers here for parts and R&R procedure? http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14945&stc=1 Also like to find suitable lens and replacement lamp for the right-rear which I presume are fog-light and second backup. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14946&stc=1 http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14947&stc=1 Thanks in advance, Adam Chovanak Mercer Island, WA http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14943&stc=1 Edited January 7, 2019 by achova
locost7018
Are you talking about the plastic ball on the shifter? Check out Ford Pinto transmissions. That is what I put in my Locost 7 with a 1600 Xflow. You might have to buy the whole transmission to get the bushing. Also check Burton Power in the UK. achova
Appreciate the pointer. Spoke with Ken at Dave Bean Engineering and he has the semi-spherical ball I need as well as a suitable shift-boot. One more thing I’m after - more secure latches for the rear of the bonnet. Any pointers are appreciated. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=14949&stc=1 Are you talking about the plastic ball on the shifter? Check out Ford Pinto transmissions. Joe Petty
Europa Spares in the UK has a good reproduction latch as well as an assortment of alternatives. If the latch is loose, you can elongate the upper bolt holes, raise the upper clip slightly and the flange will still cover the bolt holes. This will work on the upper part of the latch where the holes are in the bonnet, not so for the lower part which usually goes into the frame bar. If you want to add a strip of insulation, "Scott" makes some really thick (1"x.065") insulation tape. Good luck and measure carefully! Joe

maurice1
Dzus fastener TL 110 Series overcentre latch, stainless with secondary lock. These are fitted to my Birkin and work very well. You need to order the latch and striker when ordering unless it comes as a kit. http://elcodis.com/parts/4015766/TL110AX-1KIT_STAINLESS.html Cheers Maurice
JohnCh
Check out Protex. They make a number of different styles and their site includes dimensional drawings which should come in handy. -John
Brad B
Hi Adam, my 1990 Caterham has the identical linkage, and failed bushing. I have new bushings from Dave Bean, but also can’t figure out R&R procedure. Looks like the silent block rubber will be destroyed in order to install the new spherical bushing. How did yours go? cheers, Brad I do have an issue with worn shifter bushings. I've disassembled and the forward bushing are shot.
