John B
4-point harnesses no longer pass tech at NJMP where the 2019 7's HPDE event will be held, and my belts are out dated anyways, so I've ordered two sets of 6-Point Sparco racing Harnesses. My question how have you guys mounted the anti-submarine belts (the ones that go between your legs)? I don't think mounting them to the thin aluminum floor would be a good idea, nor pass tech. The cross bar that is in front of the seat? The same bolts the lap belts are secured to? Any other ideas?
The Stig
There are a number of threads on the Lotus Seven Club forum on this. https://www.lotus7.club/forum First check behind your seats as you may have brackets attached to the rear crossbar. It wasn’t for belts, it was for a different seat type, but can be adapted with a spacer and bolted through the floor. The other most common option is on the same bolt as the lap straps. The forward crossbar is too far forward for the belts to function and not a great idea to drill that anyway. That Sparco harness looks like it will need modification to use bolt in fittings. xcarguy
John, You have the clip-in style. Something like this may be the ticket: https://www.ogracing.com/brey-krause-harness-mount-kit-lap-belt-c6-corvette
Croc
Hopefully these photos assist I was able to tap an existing mount in the CSR chassis tube for the 5th and 6th point belts - right at the base of the rear firewall in the cockpit. I run the leather Caterham seats. I run the anti submarine belts up between the seat backrest and removable seat base. I then sit on the belt.
