Here is a thread for the books dedicated to the 7, and any books you have found helpful on your 7 journey.

The format here is one reply per book, not several books on one reply.  This is so others can comment, ask, respond and contribute about that specific book.  Only information to help others decide if the book is something they want, locate and buy the book.  But in no way share copyrighted information so we stay out of trouble.

Only front cover, back cover, publishing info, table of contents and maybe some blurbs.

Enjoy.

This is a special book to me.  Part novel and journal with enough advice to be a good build companion.

Perhaps more valuable for the Lotus S2,3 & 4, this is Caterham's reprint of original Lotus build guides.  Good coverage of the twin cam.

Next is Ortenburger.  Up until Weale's book, this was the 7 Bible.  It has hard to find information. Essential for a proper Lotus restoration.

Dennis banged out this exhaustive resource back in 1980.  He didn't have internet or MS Word to help put it all together.  Everything was leg work and typewriters.  Dennis was there. He could teach the college course on 7 and write the text book, which he did.  Every 7 book since stands on the shoulders of this giant.

Thanks, Mr. Ortenburger.

As if the Legend book wasn't enough, and apparently wasn't,  Ortenburger knocks out an exhaustive guide on all the other seven-esque roadsters.

I see it's blurry.  I'll re-shoot it.

Where Ortenburger left off in the 70's, Chris Rees picks up for Caterham development thereafter.

In the midst of all these great books on 7s, a year before Rees, Tipler gives us a hidden gem in 1995.  This one has photos at Caterham of the guys putting these together, etc.  Good factoid book. Great pictures.

Love that there is a Cat "GT" on the cover.  Most get converted to DCOEs.  Hard to find even a picture of the GT.

First, Thanks IamScottius for posting this list.  Great post and a real resource especially for newer owners.

I think the intent of the separate posts was to comment on each book individually, however my computer skills don't allow me that option, apparently.

BUT I want to make an important comment:  Chris Rees had CONTINUED his EXCELLENT effort started with The Magnificent 7 listed above.  That appears to be the First Edition, published in 2002 and reprinted 2002 and 2004.  Second edition published 2007 (MIGHT I ADD A GREAT YEAR FOR THE CATERHAM 7 and ME!) Third edition in August 2013, and THE POINT OF MY COMMENT, Fourth edition published in December 2017.  The Fourth Edition has MUCH added information, such that it is 254 pages and adds about 30+ versions of "the 7" not included in the list above.  I would strongly recommend NOT getting the earlier editions and seeking out the Fourth:  it appears on eBay regularly.

Just my thoughts

The easiest way to do this is to highlight the portion of the post that contains the book title, then click the "Quote selection" button that appears immediately below.  That will insert your chosen text at the start of your response and is what I did here.

Amazon also has the fourth addition:  https://www.amazon.com/Magnificent-Enthusiasts-Guide-Models-Caterham/dp/0992665116

I want to make an important comment:

Comments and corrections are welcome and needed.

Due to my twenty year 7 hiatus, I admit I am not aware of any exclusive 7 books published in the last twenty years. I just  haven't done the research.

The books I have posted here, I have bought and own.  I could go online and cut and paste images of books available,  but I think I avoid copyright issues not doing so.  If anyone does, please give proper credits.  But I think is is better for owners of books to share here what they own.  Especially the out of print books.
