Tony
Replacing my clutch cylinder in my ‘93 Super Sprint and found the linkage to the pedal very worn. Is the threaded arm supposed to have that long slot at an angle? Or could it be wear? The pin has a ring depression the center of its shaft, strange. Is there a part number for the arm? Supplier? The hole in the pedal is worn as well, may need to be machined, want to put it all in order. Thanks! Tony
7Westfield
I've seen some with a lot of wear, but that's a new record. Never seen a single sided one, either. https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productdetails.asp?RecID=1131 Should be able to get a pin at a good hardware store, or use a good bolt. If using a bolt be sure to get one with enough unthreaded shank so that no threads are inside the clevis. Amazing how good threads are at chewing up stuff Edited October 16 by 7Westfield
EdWills
Not sure that this will help as the Caterham catalogue I have only goes up to 1991.
CharlesG
The holes in the pedal and the threaded arm can be welded and re drilled for a new pin or bolt. Weld them, grind them smooth, drill holes, then heat them red hot and quench them in water. It'll harden them enough to slow down the wear. Dave W
I believe the real problem is side loading. After repairing the hole, I would replace the connection joint with a Heim joint that is solidly bolted to the pedal.
7Westfield
Assuming the MC is in line with the pedal, using a heim on one side will put side force on the cyl bore, causing uneven wear granted, it will be minimal If things are in proper alignment, I'd stick with a clevis after all, the original funky one got you 30+ years Edited October 17 by 7Westfield
Tony
Would have probably never known unitl the master cylinder started leaking. Having the pedal repaired now, will look into a different clevis. Thanks.
Dave W
If the push rod is actually aligned with the pedal ???, a local hardware store would probably have a clevis. That should be a quick and easy fix. Is there enough space on the pedal pivot shaft, that you can add spacers to correct the alignment or improve the alignment?
MV8
I'm guessing 5/16-24 thread master cylinder and a 5/16 hole in the pedal: https://www.mcmaster.com/products/clevises/id~5-16/shank-thread-direction~right-hand/shank-thread-size~5-16-24/shank-gender~female/
jbcollier
I repair them by brazing them up with brass and then redialing the holes. Works well.
