Need Part From UK

Recommended Posts

Thanks, but the problem is The retailer will not SELL to a USA customer.  My MAC address gives me away and they filter any VPN.

I could contact them about it.  I believe I already had, years ago.  It's the lawyers, they said.

Ah I see - I thought it was a shipping issue.  Yes a lot of UK businesses will not sell because of them freaking out over US product liability issues.  Attorneys tend to scare people unnecessarily.

I think you need to find a UK friend who can buy it and receive it on your behalf.

Regular people get sued all the time for nothing (deposed and discovery), much less those that make something that will be subject to scrutiny in case of a future accident. Doesn't matter if it was made and given away for free. The plaintiff doesn't need to be the person it was given to. I wonder if "eggshell skull" doctrine would apply to someone who had a cardiac from being pissed that their car would not shift properly. There I go joking again!:driving:

This is something that could be made easily using the installed trans, shifter, and tunnel cover with shift boot for reference.

I ran into similar frequently immediately post-Brexit, and some smaller companies still don't have systems updated to suit their compliance folks about staying within trade/tariff/tax rules so still take this stance.  So, may not be liability-relatwd.

I believe I'd just call them, explain that you're currently in the US but would like to purchase and have the item shipped to your (forward2me) British address but the system is stopping you due to your current location.  You'll get charged VAT, but that may be a small price to get what you need.

If I were to fab this, after the skills, tools and materials,  I'm way over the purchase cost of this item, four times over.

This thing, is, a gamble.  I haven't found much written about it.  Nor do I see them being sold off or replaced with something better.  I assume most 7ers just leave the shift where it lies, enjoying the snappy flick, I know,  I've driven a T9 Cat.  I could accept that for myself,  it would be much easier.   But, there is a correct placement location for a shifter. I will try to have it on my car, as well as I can.

Done.  Waiting for a response.   I even gave Bearing Kits as an example.  This discussion isn't new, I have brought it up before.   Then, it was revealed that another reason for the avoidance is the frequency of "non delivery" and lost goods,  and CC transactions being canceled.  Apparently it's a thing here.

AND, since Rally Design appears to be the JC Whitney of UK, I can see how they would have that problem.  RD probably eats more than thier share of loss.

Westfield used to fit this extension, and I had one on my car until I installed the BGH gearbox. If you do source one, you may want to read this thread which touches on some aspects of the installation process:  https://forum.wscc.co.uk/forum/topic/146517-gearlever-extension-type-9-fitting

I have seen it.  I joined for a year to be able to petition and WTB there.  No luck.

RD said that another UK retailer like Burton or Bearing Kits can get the part and sell it to me.  They also mentioned Racer Walsh as having a trade agreement.  Racer Walsh has been in the Ford four banger game a long time.  They're mostly 2ltr OHC support now.

Exploring options among friends and retailers now.  I have a growing grocery list for Burton anyway.
