CBuff Posted January 5 Posted January 5 But can it be shoe horned into a seven. https://carbuzz.com/ac-cars-cobra-gt-four-cylinder-engine-option/ 1
mrmustang Posted January 5 Posted January 5 No, no, no, no, no A cobra, real or replica, should only have a V8 installed Bill S. 1
JohnCh Posted January 5 Posted January 5 It sounds more like Hognose than a Cobra. Those snakes also spread their necks when threatened but their venom isn't harmful to humans. I don't think you should call the car a Cobra if it isn't always trying to kill you. 1 3
theDreamer Posted January 5 Posted January 5 AC Cars website is all smoke and mirrors. By that I mean, lots of talk with very little actual info. What I think is happening is they are going to use the same or similar drivetrain as in their classic AC Ace. The Ace uses a fuel-injected 2.3-litre inline 4 EcoBoost engine which they claim develops in excess of 300 bhp. Oh and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. A four cylinder Ace with wire wheels would be OK with me depending on price. However, you cannot call an Ace with Cobra-esque styling (big wheels, fat tires, side vents etc.) a Cobra. That’s like calling an electric box SUV a Mustang.
Number94 Posted January 6 Posted January 6 (edited) Likely one of the Ford crate engines. Scroll down a bit. Like the Mustang ecoboost, plenty of torque, doesn't rev to a nice crescendo at redline, won't sound anything like a Cobra. https://performanceparts.ford.com/engines/ Edited January 6 by Number94
CBuff Posted January 6 Author Posted January 6 Agreed on a cobra needing a v8. Was more interested in a 300hp n/a ford 4 cylinder and if it would be able to fit in an sv 7 (But the eco boost exhaust is on the left side I believe ). Or maybe that could solve the supercharger steering conflict in the 620 with a left hand drive (eco boost vs Duratec)

Like a 7, no anti lock brakes, no modern suspension, no traction control, no air conditioning. I also tell them to repeat the following in their heads as they are walking up to the car "As soon as I get near the car, it will try to kill me", over and over and over again until it sinks in. Sadly, I've seen what happens when they do not. Bill
