I used to get thinks from Royal Mail on the semi regular.

Without getting into the politics of it,  but more of an FYI it appears that the orders under $800 declared value were excempt from you having to pay an import fee and that is no longer the case.

I'm glad I'm pretty stocked up on most things I need.

Use this thread to either back up these discoveries or share exactly what the fee % you're finding out it is now from the UK.

My initial take was that this affected China only

You might be right. I've seen mixed messages on whether it's blanket or China only.

Regardless it appears that this has already been gone back on and now new policy is "paused" :classic_rolleyes:

I always found the duties were selectively enforced in the past.  Sometimes I would get hit with a bill and sometimes not.  Also Fedex, UPS and DHL would be similar in their inconsistency.

Mixed minds about  it.  From a policy point of view, this exemption actually should be removed as it does distort the US economy.  However, personally I like it when I do small orders of parts.  Large parts orders like the half a shipping container I brought in last year will always get duties applied.

I've had the same experience.

To be fair I shared that experience too. Some items were held and I had to pay duty on and many others it was a non issue. Could never put logic behind it.
