I'm selling due to loss of motor control of my left foot.   While I can still operate the clutch with my size 13 feet I can no longer drive the car safely the way that I love.

Verified a true and correct S2 Lotus Seven by the Lotus Historic Register.  Documented ownership history, 4th owner from new.

Ron did sell it to Victor Avila in San Clemente last year.  Victor beat me out in the auction.  This year, Victor decided to make some adjustments to his collection, so he contacted Ron, who contacted me.  Naturally, I immediately (okay, had to get my wife's clearance first) jumped on the opportunity to own this spectacular car (which Ron had kindly shown me when I was bidding on it).  My son and I drove up to San Clemente and met with Victor and his wife, had lunch and a wonderful conversation with them at Victor's restaurant, and returned home to San Diego with the new love of my life (second only to my wife, of course).  Parked it next to my (still not running cross-flow 807 Europa S2).  I've been driving the Seven daily (casual drives, Home Depot, Lowe's, Costco, grocery stores).  It's a more practical car than I initially thought it would be.

 

This September, I'll be driving the Seven to Lotus United Gathering (LUG) 2026 in Salt Lake City.  On Ron's recommendation, the best man at my wedding (many decades ago) and I will be taking a multi-day scenic route through the mountains of Utah.  I expect that the car will be ready for the nearly 2,000 mile round trip.  Photo of the boot shows a test fitting of my gear and car stuff.  It's surprising how much one can fit in the rear boot if one packs light. The remaining free space is for my friend's kit.  Desert camouflage pattern Camelbaks serve as both headrests and hydration sources.  Everything will be tied down with bungees and straps. Not exactly elegant looking, but there isn't a lot of room elsewhere.  Might have a transport case made to fit the spare carrier.

I noticed the absence of a hand brake. Is something else taking it's place?

Getting in and out is tricky enough without widening the sills, but it's an interesting idea.  They'd have to be made of Kevlar or Spectra.

My understanding is that the handbrake was deleted during the rebuild.  I use a wheel chock with a "Remove Before Flight" tether - which, of course, I have forgotten to remove before attempting to drive off.

Well done!  If you get tired of it, let me know.  I am a tall dude and this thing might fit.  Probably will have an MK RX-5 VTEC soon but who knows, maybe I need two Sevens lol.
