Help others help you if you really want results and solutions. Tell people where you're located, post an example of your nose cone as there were slightly different designs through the years, possibly list your budget for such an item including shipping as that would be considerable. Why reach out on email and not here?
werthie Posted September 17 Author Posted September 17 thanks for the good advice . . . i'm in Los Angeles . . . my nosecone is gouged and cracked, and i think finding a good used one is a better way to go than trying to repair mine . . . a new one from the UK is 228 pounds plus shipping, that's all i know about pricing . . . my car is a 1992 S3 1700 Super Sprint with De Dion rear end. please let me know if i've left anything out. i'll try to figure out how to post a pic of my damaged nosecone. in the meantime, thank you again. alan 1
Vovchandr Posted September 18 Posted September 18 (edited) There were some year to year differences in design. Id also clarify if that matters to you Edited September 18 by Vovchandr 1
MV8 Posted September 18 Posted September 18 (edited) Werthie, it sounds like a minor repair. If it were in pieces with a little missing, it can still be repaired by someone with fiberglass experience. You might try a boat repair shop or a place that sells fiberglass parts or yellow pages under fiberglass. Personally, I'd make a mold after repairing so I could make them from scratch in the future. Christopher smith Posted September 18 Posted September 18 West Marine has various locations selling retail, lots of fiberglass, resins etc. to boat repair and other fiberglass specialists so might recommend one for you. Trickiest part might be color matching
IamScotticus Posted September 19 Posted September 19 These guys are the only source I know for new 7 fiber glass in the USA Wava Utt Motorsport Composites 2133 County Road W Grafton, WI 53024 262-375-1930 info@motorsportcomposites.com
theDreamer Posted September 19 Posted September 19 (edited) I have to agree with MV8, repair is the best way to go. Fiberglass is easy for those with the knowledge and experience. You will have to have it painted whether it’s new, used or repaired. So why not have a good body shop do it all for you. Is your nose as bad as my fender was? It was totally broke clean through and there was a few chucks missing. Look how it turned out and this is just the first of several coats with more sanding to come. lotsats Posted September 22 Posted September 22 A while back, someone backed into my old Caterham. I ordered the parts from Caterham, and had them, nicely packed, in just a few days. The other guys’s insurance company paid for everything including the shipping. Just sayin’ ——————-
