empti Posted October 16 Posted October 16 My 420R currently has R888s, but the front tires saw some notable wear after roughly 1,000 miles (alignment issue) of road use. I’m looking for a more road-friendly tire that still offers good grip. Which model would you recommend and where do you usually source them (local shop, online retailer, or dealer)?
JB455 Posted October 16 Posted October 16 My car also has the R888s on it and I haven't even fully worn through the paint stripes on them after 600+ miles.
Slonie Posted October 17 Posted October 17 (edited) Yeah, have to agree with the alignment being the culprit here, I am nowhere near the wear bar after two thousand miles (of mostly-enthusiastic driving). Photo from July as that's the newest close-up (ish) I can find. I am however considering Azenis RT660 if I get 14", and looking into ZZS when they start being newly-manufactured again. Edit: When the ZZS *does* come back into production, Roger Kraus is the local Avon distributor and would be the natural fit to get them. He also sells the Nankang AR-1 for our sizes but it's my impression that the AR-1 is even less street-oriented than the R888R. https://rogerkrausracing.com/pdfpricing/Nankang Porsche Cobra Caterham .pdf https://rogerkrausracing.com Edited October 17 by Slonie Roger Kraus shoutout 1
pethier Posted Monday at 08:01 PM Posted Monday at 08:01 PM On Sevens, I go with the Yokohama Advan A052 for both street and autocross. 1
Slonie Posted Monday at 08:10 PM Posted Monday at 08:10 PM The Advan is definitely worth looking into. It seems like they sell a 185/55-14 here (filed for future reference!) but the 13" might need to be imported as Advan (nor the big US-based mail order sites) show it as existing. The 185/60-13 and 205/60-13 definitely exist though.
