CarYenta Posted July 4 Posted July 4 https://www.copart.com/lot/57474516/salvage-2025-other-automobile-other-wa-north-seattle FYI noticed that my old car is up for auction by copart. Insurance paid it out so I have no part or stake in this. Hope it can find a nice home 1
Anaximander Posted July 4 Posted July 4 Judging by how well a firm in Poland was able to resurrect a significantly damaged 2014 Brunton Stalker XL with an LS3/480 engine, I suspect that they may bid on this car and have it shipped to Poland. There is a particular restoration company that does amazing work on American muscle cars along with other exotics. I think they will be looking hard at this offering. 1

Considering it doesn't say Caterham anywhere on the ad, I have a feeling it will not hit their reserve whatever it is at. Edited July 5 by CarYenta
Vovchandr Posted July 5 Posted July 5 I'm trying to figure out what one can even salvage from it. With so few parts to begin with there isn't much room for parting out. Engine. Seats. Dash. Tails?
Origin7 Posted July 5 Posted July 5 If anyone here buys this for parts, let me know. There are a lot of parts I'd love to scoop up.

The engine, exhaust, supercharger, cooling, race brake cylinder, dry sump system, fire suppression system, are all intact. Roll cage probably slightly askew but is bendable. Transmission maybe ok not sure, LSD maybe ok not sure. Some underneath hard oil connections need new lines. Edited July 5 by CarYenta 1 2
mccasksl Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Ouch! Just now catching up on this. I had followed much of the original build etc. But now see "the rest of the story." CarYenta I feel your pain. So much effort went into this car. Interesting "opportunities / project" if it can be bought right. 1

Vovchandr Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) I've argued myself into a viewpoint that it's a bad idea for me no matter what price it ends up going for. SV and Supercharged Duratecs not working with LHD S3 chassis are two big strikes. Edited July 6 by Vovchandr

You'd have to use those forged internals to make it into a turbo and keep it exhaust side 1

With that said I already have a backburner of projects to cover the next decade (about 12 different vehicle projects in various needs) including doing a "poor mans"LHD 620. I have a Rotrex SC for a Zetec I'll try to shoehorn one day into the S3 and see if it works. It would be more like a 410 with Zetec power but would be enough if it all worked out. 1
Vovchandr Posted Monday at 09:48 PM Posted Monday at 09:48 PM Will Copart show final sale #? I saw it hit into the $25k mark or so before ending.

I think it went automatically to the reserve price and they will try to cut a deal with the high bidder who seemed to be around $4k. Not sure!

Not sure! I honestly would not be surprised if we don't see it about 2-4 months from now completely refurbished and in the hands of the Polish restoration shop that seems to be able to work miracles with damaged cars that have high values when fixed. I hope that if this is the case that the shop and/or the purchaser of the car will come back on USA7's and show us how nice your tweaked car turned out. I would think that it would be gratifying to see your formerly beautiful car restored to its original glory.
