7Westfield Posted October 10 Posted October 10 (edited) Has anyone here used a Haltech ecu? or Megasquirt? I'm considering trying one on a xflow. Edited October 10 by 7Westfield
speedwagon Posted October 12 Posted October 12 I have two old haltech, both are on rotaries and one is so old it needs msdos to program. Have no familiarity with newer models. Looked into Megasquirt and all my knowledge is it is "open source" and works quite well depending on what mods you have. john
redursidae Posted October 12 Posted October 12 I have used both Haltech and MS and would choose Haltech, but personally prefer LinkECUs. MS used to be open source, but is not after firmware 1.4 which is over 10 years old now. Regarding function, all will function well when properly tuned. How they go about it, documentation and support is where Haltech and Link shine.
7Westfield Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 Thanks I have a JDM tuner near me and he uses Haltech, but could do MS if I want. Problem I have with H is they dropped the Elite stuff, and then it starts getting pricey. A xflow "fun project" doesn't warrant that score 1 for MS I'll give Link a look

I am totally ignorant about ECUs, but a tuner I trust likes to recommend Haltech. I may still have him replace the Megasquirt in 74PHIL with a Haltech. I will say that when he checked out the documentation on the OMEX 600 Series ECU in the Birkin I am selling, he told me that car did not need a Haltech.
wemtd Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I have Haltech (a now 'old' sport model) - came with my car. IIRC, I've heard good things about Typhoon ECU. may be worth looking into (I have not personal experience)
