11Budlite
Would like to see some more of the details - seems pretty cheap and it looks like it has some "good" stuff. No affiliation, etc: http://www.pd-go.com/index.php?action=website-view&WebPageID=21906&WebSiteID=409 Bruce :7drive:
scannon
What are the implications of the "Sold for Export Only" banner? That may have something to do with the lower price. Skip
twestrup
This is the reply I received when I emailed a question to "Wire Wheel" back in April (before the price reduction.) "Thanks for your note with interest in the Birkin CS3. This car is currently being shipped to me but is held up in Miami, FL by US Customs. We are buying back from a customer in St. Maartin. I hope to know more within a couple of weeks, if not sooner." The comment "Sold for Export Only" would imply that there are some customs issues. gjslutz
I like the seats & aeroshield. Anyone have an idea where they came from?
JohnCh
The look like Mog parts. I don't think they sell to the US due to liability concerns, but I believe their UK reseller, Fluke Motorsports, still does. I can vouch for both Fluke and the seats. -John
gjslutz
I looked at Fluke & the CF prices. It looks like I could buy the Wire Wheel car and remove the CF parts for less money. Now I know where I fit in the food chain.
JohnCh
Blame the rising cost of carbon fiber and the tanking dollar. I paid significantly less for my Mog seats when I bought them 4 years ago. BTW if you think those are expensive, then check out the ReVerie seats. Yikes!! -John
11Budlite
"It looks like I could buy the Wire Wheel car and remove the CF parts for less money." - Hey Gary, if you do I'll buy the exhaust from you! Bruce :7drive:
manik
The comment "Sold for Export Only" would imply that there are some customs issues. More like 'seized by U.S. customs'. It either gets exported back out of the U.S., or crushed. The potential buyer will likely not have access to the car before buying it. The seats and aeroscreen can be had from U.K. suppliers at less than the MOG pricing. tm
sporqster
hmm... maybe if I shipped it to Mexico, I could put the plates and 'assigned' VIN from my locost on it and drive it back through the desert.... Somehow I'm thinking the 7-month pregnant wife isn't going to go for that adventure.

gjslutz
TM, who is the vendor on the aeroscreens in the UK? To bad there isn't a vendor here that do a Lexan clear one. The windshield is big drag, it collects more bugs than anything I have had. John, how do the mog seats fit you? Fixed or on a track? Do you set lower than the std. seats? Bruce, we we could start a 7 salvage yard, or just pick what we want off it and ship it to the next person. Gary
JohnCh
Seats fit great and are very comfortable. I've done over 600 miles in a day with no complaints. I use Sparco kidney pads when touring to provide a little more lumbar support, but I have a bad back and do that in almost every car. The Mogs use the standard Caterham adjustable runners, and are designed so that your butt is just off the floor when the runners are fitted. This page has a picture of the runners and also a dimenisonal drawing of the seat. Tillets are another option. I've tried both and marginally prefer the Mogs from a comfort perspective, but the carpet fitted to the Tillets is a nice feature. It really locks you in place. Of course the carpet gets wet, so it is a trade off if you tour in wet weather. -John
Al N.
Seats fit great and are very comfortable. I've done over 600 miles in a day with no complaints. So that's like what, 3 days of hard driving just to get to Branson?!?:jester: Montana/Wyoming in 2011. Don't despair. And perhaps by then (and probs even by Branson), I'll be back in the saddle...though probs not Tilletts.
JohnCh
The three hard days to get there don't bother me. It' the three hard days to get back to work that kill me. :banghead: BTW are you paying MoPho a license fee to use his car's image in your avatar? :jester:
