Spaz
So, I took the STM-7(Stuart Taylor Motorsports 7) out for the first legal run on the roads, more than 3 blocks from my house. I decided to try it out at speed on the highway. It was scary!!!! little 7, BIG semi trucks. I had my full roof on and things where doing good. Running about 8,000 rpms at 80 mph until the roof started to unbutton. *Pop* *Pop* *Pop* All but the far left and right buttons where undone on the windshield. Lucky the next exit was not far away and I was able to pull over safely. But I must say driving a 7 on the highway is kind a crazy. http://www.redpepperracing.com/gallery/d/233058-1/Roof+_1_.JPG
Al N.
Try it in the rain for 7 hours, without full doors. One of best driving days of my life. I found that the trucks were very sympathetic to my cause...most gave me a very wide berth and honked their horn approvingly. You'll get used to the size of car relative to other vehicles soon enough. Congrats on the new purchase. And regarding your top...maybe the solution is to keep it under 80! ;-p Edited April 10, 2009 by Al Navarro

slomove
While I don't cherish the Los Angeles Freeway traffic in the Seven and prefer driving on highways with light traffic and nice weather, I must say it is not *that* bad. You do have to compensate for other driver's lack of attention. Otherwise I must say the Seven is the best and most fun touring car I've had. You just need to pack lightly. Westfield 11 Builder
Spaz, this is a bit o/t, but what are the codes for your paint? I am getting near the bodywork stage in my Westfield 11 build and I am planning to paint the car in the same '60's Lotus colors as yours. It looks like the yellow is a perfect match, but it is hard to tell in the photos if the green is correct. How does it look in the sunlight? BTW, my car is yellow with a green interior and will have green trim, it's just a generic yellow gelcoat now.

Funny you should ask, They both broke off on a "test" run" around the block. One side had the weld break and on the other side two of the 3 bolts broke right in two. The one side has been welded back up, and I order M8 grade bolts but the hardware store got the wrong grade

This weekend I hope to work on the car a bit and will take a few pictures in the sun light.

slngsht
yes, they have everything, and ship FAST. Prices are not the best though. You can also try Fastenal - they have stores too.

Kitcat
Peter Egan (of R & T fame, and a consumate Seven fan) says the ultimate BRG paint for Sevens was that used on the '91 (approx) Mazda Miata. Yes, it is ironic.
