slomove
I don't really complain about it, but I don't enjoy it, either. I noticed over the 7 years of ownership the frequency of a complete re-buff has gone from 3 or 4 per year to annually and still declining. But I guess for the Summer trip I will spend another afternoon to get the little car shiny again.
jlumba81
Anyone use the Mother's powerball or something similar to polish their 7?
Dave W
I use a small 2 1/2" Dia polishing pad on a 12V drill. The pad is made from hard felt and comes in a kit from Harbor Freight that uses velcro to attach it to a 1/4" arbor. I also use Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish which seem to hold a shine longer then most other polishes. Still takes about 30 to 40 minutes per side. But sure is faster then polishing by hand Dave W
Flibbie
I have ALWAYS been so happy the USAF decided to quit polishing the a/c just about the time I went in. Polished a/c were a real SOB to work on. I think the polishing raised the temp. about 20-30 degrees, the glare gave you a headache and it was so easy to start sliding off. The best polished a/c I've ever seen was President Ike's. Closest I ever came to cleaning an a/c was using a push broom to sweep snow off the fuselage and wings of a B-52. So now you know why I had all my ali anodized. Jim That is also one of the reasons I use a Green Scotch Brite Pad to keep my cars aluminum a dull luster and besides I am just plain LAZY and it hides those little imperfections that you cannot have if it is a super polished finish. BobDrye
Martin: I like the look. I was reading today about the Beach Boys. After all of their car songs it appears that they didn't know anything about cars, and never went to the races.

The first polish took me days. Maybe 20 hours on the nose alone. I can't seem to get the haze out of the finish. It's driving me nuts.
Dave W
Dean I can not find a part number for the polishing pad, But it can be found in the auto body repair section. The kit came with small sanding pads plus the polishing pad and was under $7. Dave W
