Ian7
Gents, I need cash for full-size engine parts. What do you think this immaculately finished example is worth? Thanks
scannon
An un-assembled kit still in the box sold for $150 a few weeks ago, I was #2 in line. I'd like to build my own but I'll start the bidding at $100 for this one.
Ian7
thanks for the interest, but lets make the second bid at least 500, or am I dreaming? there's over 150 hours labor in this alone :-)
scannon
Highest I've seen an un-assembled kit in a box go for is $325. Un-assembled kits are worth more than one already put together. Most of us want the fun of doing it ourselves. You might be dreaming. There is a new kit on ebay ending in a few minutes with a bid of $215 and no reserve. Edit: It sold for a little over $221. There are at least two more kits with buy it now prices of $225. Edited November 1, 2009 by scannon
escondidoron
There was an assembled kit listed sometime in September. It went fairly cheap. I think around $100.00 or so, not sure. But I remember that it was much less than a kit.
Ian7
In researching the potential value, I came across this: http://www.modelersite.com/PDF_Fotos_VII/Caterham.htm yikes ! (for me, if the value is indeed less than the kit cost, then I'll keep it for sure; no risk of later regret) :-)
WestTexasS2K
Wow it only took 150hrs to put my first Ultralite together.
jlbtrans1
Does anyone know where I can get this model unassembled?
locost7018
They show up on ebay once and awhile. Way too much for my budget though. Russ
scannon
Does anyone know where I can get this model unassembled? Check the Ebay stores. There were several un-assembled models available in the Buy It Now $225 range with shipping from Japan at about $50 -60. That is as cheap as I have seen them in the two years I have been watching. Ian7
Wow it only took 150hrs to put my first Ultralite together. LOL ! yeah, and Caterham said it would take me 60 hours to build my full size car..... ... what they don't say is that it assumes the crates you receive contain ALL the parts you will need, and further assumes that all the parts you receive are actually applicable to the model you ordered; don't get me started again :-)
sparecr
Yep you guys need to quote apples to apples. Add shipping charges and most ebay kits push the 200's sometimes over 300. But these are Winged cars. The Cycle fender kits usally run a few dollars more. And of course the holly grail the JPE will command $100 more than the base kits. Prices will vary auction to auction but always check shipping. I have seen assembled kits go for 300-400. Might want to post it closer to the holidays to get the most money. $500 is high however. Quick ebay check 279 plus 41 s/h for a BDR, 315 plus 41 s/h for JPE unassembled. One assembled at 15 cents with 4 days left.
Tralfaz
I don't know, the JPE's are readily available. The 'Cycle Fender Special' seems to be the rarest of the group. T
