Now I know what a Seven would look like if powered by a flat-4 engine....Subaru, Porsche, etc.

Can't say I'm particularly in love with it....

ick.... Sevens are not particularly beatiful creatures, but this is colossaly ugly. Not a single line, plane or feature I would consider pleasing. Just my 2 cents of course....

I just wonder where he found all that junk. Better hope it's fast so he doesn't have to hear the snickering too long...

Went to the site, the rear doesn't look any better. Though I have to admit, all-wheel drive does seem interesting. Plus you can get quite a bit of HP out of these things too.

Think it was built by an engineer more than a designer, just needs a cosmetic upgrade.

This STI powered Kiwi 7 was featured on Discovery Channell last night.

Do you remember what the show was called or what it was about?

It's not pretty, but I think I'd take just about anything that light using a turbo 4wd setup.

The site says it weighs 1650 lbs and has the same wheelbase and track as the WRX. 300+ whp is a piece of cake using a US 2.5L engine.

I agree that this isn't a particularly attractive car.

This is certainly not a good representation of what an S2 Seven with a Porsche flat 6-cylinder engine would look like. Refer to Dennis Ortenberger's book, Lotus Seven and The Independents, and 11Budlite's earlier post on a similar topic back in 2009 here:

"Zed Cars" in the UK built a Seven with dual Hayabusa engines and 4-wheel drive.... not much technical detail, but way more attractive than the Kiwi. Doesn't seem to be on their website anymore though (zcars.org.uk). I believe one engine faced forward, one back, dunno how they dealt with dual gearboxes.

Mr D Long and Mr T Bruch built a dimensionally accurate 7 with a 2.0 Porsche Flat 6. This was campaigned in the SCCA Solo2 D MOD program in the early 80s.

It ejected a piston and then grew a V8. 'Twas a monster.

The point being that a 7 could swallow a flat six and still resemble a 7 w/o infringement.

I've always thought that a 2wd Subie engine & tranny could make a great basis for a mid-engined single seater - an update on a Formula Vee concept. The independant front suspension would have to be modified to use in the rear, of course. Perhaps some day when I have too much money on my hands I'll have a go at it.

This contraption? Eeesh. At least a big bucket of ugly, I don't care how fun it is to drive. I'd have to wear a full face helmet and nondescript driving suit at all times, but that might make the Stig look bad . . .

I like the concept - the look? Not so much.

Like to see how / if the frame, running gear is purpose built or cut out of the Suburu.

Wonder if anybody has done something comparable with the EVO?

Bryce? You listening?
