SOLD 2002 Caterham de Dion

BRG Yellow Bonnet stripe, 147 hp Zetec with 5-speed, cycle fenders, wide track, 4-pot brakes, leather adjust seats, 4 point red seat belts, battery master switch. I am the second owner, I purchased the car with 500 miles in 2008-currently has 12,000. One crack in drivers side rear wheel well from what looks like a door ding/crack, otherwise normal wear and rock chips. No heater, I did install a 12V and Gerbings plug under dash for heated gear. No issues, we took it on a 1,800 mile Fall color tour last year to Copper Harbor in the UP. Titled as a 1967 Lotus 7 in Michigan, located near Ann Arbor, MI. Just replaced with a 2008 Cayman S. I have three ring binder with invoices, build photos and spare keys. Just fluids, filters and fuel in three years.

Since I have been asked-it is not a garage queen, it is driven on rainy days.

$28,500 OBO

Thank you,

Scott

I added an engine photo, I did add reflective heat tape since photo to both reduce heat and to keep legs dry during rain.

Hi

What 5-speed is in the car?

A stock T9 with very low first gear, or close-ratio with taller first, or Quaife, or... ?

thx

I am not sure on the first gear ratio, I am out of town until Monday night. I will check the information that came with the car when I return.

Thank you,

Scott

I understand that there are two heater choices...the two speed and the Fresh air.

Does anyone have an idea about the cost, benefits and how much work each would be to install?

Thanks for you help.

I was looking at this car however the more I dig the more obstacles I see given the fact that I seem to move from one state to another on average every two years!!! In terms of the heater, I would have gone the electrical heated clothing route went like the seller. Have used them on motorcycles and they're a great solution.

I agree with JT completely. I removed my heater and went with a Gerbing heated jacket w/thermostat and I'd never go back. I drive my car even when the temps get down below 20 degrees F and I'm still comfortable....and I hardly ever use my doors.

Scott - beautiful car, good luck with the sale.

Never going to convince my wife that I need a car without a heater and the best way around this is to buy some heated clothes. The Gerbing wear is probably a great idea but I need a heater.

The invoices did not list the ratios on the transmission, I did not think that the gap was that large from first to second. I do have an offer and the car is sold, the transaction is should take place on May 31st. I will respond if the deal falls through.

Thank you,

Scott

Hah! Sounds like you have never driven a Caterham. :) My heater works 24/7/365, whether I want heat or not. In fact I block off my heater inlet for most of the year to cut down on the warm air coming into the cockpit.

I think I have used my heater three times. Without a top on, it isn't going to keep you warm and cozy regardless. It will keep your feet and lower body warm-ish, but the engine does a pretty good job of that anyway.

I also bought my Caterham from the for-sale part of this forum on May 31 (2007).
