yellowss7
:smilielol5: Sorry for the tease guys. I spent yesterday uploading the videos, and probably more time went to deleting enough existing files to make room for the new stuff. HD video is a memory hog! Finally loaded the last clip just now. We're going to a wedding today and spending the night downtown so I'll get back to it tomorrow night and Hopefully will have something for you on Monday. There is really so much good stuff that I'll probably do 2 ten to fifteen minute sessions, so I don't bore those of you who weren't there. For those that were, I'll burn you each a few discs of each camera's footage so that you can watch the whole thing at your leisure if you want. I'm going back up to the desktop computer now to get started while the rest of the house is still sleeping. blubarisax
Here is a little clip from my video. The track is T-bolt and we were on lightning I'll leave the cinematography editing to Tom.
Kitcat
Karl: You were entering the straight about as fast as I was at the end of it:). Man, your car sounds good! Mike
yellowss7
Yeah Mike, but at the end of the straight, you never braked. That was your usual passing zone.:smilielol5:You were probalby doing 75-85 thru that turn. Tom
ottocycle
Karl, nice video. I like the system. Tom, great teaser, looking forward to the nationwide release!! Did my camera get any footage? (BTW, I think John might have my USB charger/download cable, I forgot to get it back off him). Thanks again for organizing what I hope turns into an annual event. Even my wife is keen on seeing the footage, hopefully we all look pretty good out there. Mike, us guys in the sub 150 HP cars have nothing to be ashamed of. I think a lot of the attendees had a newfound respect for those "funny lookin' cars" at the end of the day. That being said, where can I find another 100 BHP.... I think a special thanks to Jack and John for their collective assistance to everyone who was there. Trackdays are much more fun with a group than solo and you were a great group to hang out with. Count me in for the next one. Dermot, Heretic 1300.
Kitcat
Dermot: Yes, and some of us have sub 100hp cars:). You drove away from me on the straights as fast as anyone there! Your car is too cool. Did you give any point byes (I know you let me by on an early lap of T-bolt whilst learning the line, but once you figured the course out, you seemed pretty unbeatable). Maybe Croc, anyone else? This whole event just proves the worthwhile theory that, while youth is fleeting, immaturity can last a lifetime! We are all living proof:). ottocycle
Mike, I thought you were in the 120-140 HP range. Brilliant driving and an endorsement of the dynamic capabilities and minimum inertia of lightweight vehicles. I think the footage will be educational for all of us. I have never seen or heard my car running on the track. I am interested to see what it looks like. Dermot Heretic 1300
Kitcat
Dermot: Caterham says 135 hp, chassis dyno says 95(:. But I have 93 lbs torque (probably double yours:)). My plan is to add some ponies this winter, we'll see, how the financial picture looks. After 4 years w/the car, I am very comfortable w/it & I know what the car can and can't do. So, I can drive it much closer to the edge than some of the guys w/higher hp cars. The biggest difference I noticed on the NJMP tracks was I was not slowing nearly as soon, or as much, as others before turns. So what I lost in acceleration, I often gained back in the braking zone. Croc
Ok be gentle here - this was first time I have ever put together a video on a car and it was first session at Thunderbolt. The darkness just shows how threatening the skies were. Need to find a better spot out of the wind for the external mic. Kitcat
Those were pretty tidy lines, for the 1st time out! I was lost most of the 1st session, on the wrong side of the track, etc, in half the places, and was massively sideways 3x in a row at the "octopus", until I finally realized I had to slow it up there. Like Karl's car, yours sounds fabulous! I never really heard it as I had my helmet on when you passed me and my car's noise, wind, etc., drowned your sound out. Mike M. Croc
Keen eyed viewers will note that the rev counter was not really going past 5000rpm and I was not heel and toeing downshifts as I was slow enough that I really did not need to. Combine that with the sprinkles from the heavens that were threatening our session, and I was understandably cautious. It is strange that those lines seemed to work best for me straightaway although it took time for me to feel comfortable with them. Only when we got through the classroom session did I have confidence that I had found pretty much the best lines to go around with.

yellowss7
I just finished the final editing of the video. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. My cousin John helped with the editing and some special effects. It combines footage from 5 different cameras. It's currently rendering into the Media browser so that I can then export it into YOUTUBE. It still has 3 hours or so left to render. Total time is 43 minutes. I think I'll try to break it up into Three sessions to upload on youtube. Hopefully, I'll be able to meet my target of getting it loaded up today. It will be late, as it won't finish rendering until at least 8:30 or 9pm or so. Stay tuned. Tom
Kitcat
Tom: Given that the rest of us are contributing nothing to your effort, no need to apologize. Mike M.
yellowss7
OK. It finally finished rendering at 9pm, and I sent it to Youtube from my laptop. Unfortunately, due to the size of the file, when I got up this morning it was still loading and was showing 8800 minutes of processing still remaining and it was still going up.:nopity: Good think Cousin John suggested sending it to his Mobile Me gallery on my desktop computer. That only took 9 hours,so it was done when I woke up. John just sent me the link so that you all may view it. It is 43 minutes long. Sorry, I just couldn't stop adding footage of us passing everything in site. Here is the link to John's Mobile me gallery. http://gallery.me.com/jjones17#100282 Click on the link, which opens the gallery. That will take you right to the movie, Unless you have a REALLY fast internet connection, I recommend clicking the Large size, downloading it onto your computer, and put it into the full screen mode by clicking on the two little arrows or dots at the bottom right hand corner and turn up the volume. If you don't download it, it could hang up as it is a very Large file. Enjoy! Tom Edited July 11, 2011 by yellowss7
