sdaddy
I've seen the car under the second link on eBay before. Didn't reach reserve. Got into the low $20's as I recall....
Croc
All three cars have been on here at some point: 1) The first one is Bob's who is a member on here. Very nice car. 2) The second is the same NY car that has been for sale for 2-3 years now but has somehow never sold as the price is always too high for what the market wants to pay. 3) The CSR was listed here and then handed off to Park Place Motors and given bidding is now $53950 with 2 days to run there is a good chance it will now reach the buy it now reserve of $55k (provided the bidder is not the seller bumping up the price). Kitcat
Yes, 1st is Southwinds7, 2nd the guy who thinks his $25K Caterham is worth $30k+ and it's theorized he keeps bidding it up himself. It has been sale for years, and over and over on E-bay. I dont buy the 3rd car's alleged bid either, I think they'd sell in a heartbeat if they really got that price. twobone
I agree Kitcat. He seems to have a price point that he is locked in on. I once heard the most important price is what you pay for a car, not what you sell it for.
MBEARDEN
On the second car I offered him mid $20s for it last year and he was insulted...I think that one time the bid on EBay got to within a few hundred dollars of the Buy It Now price and it did not sell...looked funny to me too. Kitcat
Second car owner is in denial. One would think that all the no-sales over all these years would convey the message that his price is too high. To be insulted is silly. I had some low-ball offers on the se7en I sold and on the one now for sale and have appreciated that someone liked them enough to try to buy, even tho I didn't sell to them. lucky dawg
Hard to believe that the opening bid on #3 would start so high, just a few dollars below the BIN price. If he was really serious, the bidder probably could have just called Park Place and bought the CSR for less. With summer half over, and the car being up for sale quite awhile, I have to believe the seller is getting more motivated every day.
JimmyHilton
Just so that fair, is fair: I have bid on car number two in 3 different auctions, and truly never felt bid shilling was occuring. I have had conversation with the owner, who seems to be quite genuine. He is also a member of this board. We do disagree on the value of the car in todays market. Jimmy Jimmy, no offense to you or the seller, yet when a better car was on Ebay, with more options and better build details and it gets bid t0 23K while this car, with 9 crappy pictures and a four line description gets bid to 28K (with a buy it now of 28.5K) not one, not twice, but four times in a row last year, something fishy is going on. :nopity: Some of us track these cars more than others, the patterns of deception are indeed there given the track record of the auctions vs other like and kind automobiles. I will not go in to the assorted details as I do not want to educate the unscrupulous sellers as to what their "tells" are. Bill S. PS: I track Shelbys, Cobra replicas, certain vintage Mustangs, 7s, TR6's and a host of other vehicles that the top goes down on. Have been since 1998. Bill - When I get to the stage of buying a car through Ebay I will be heading in your direction to get educated. I have never been a fan of online auctions for cars as I am usually sufficiently old fashioned I want to see the car first because there is insufficient information in the online advertisment. Rarely do you find the seller has gone to enough effort to document the car condition in words and photos so that a visit is truly not necessary. My previous seven was found online with Ebay but I had to check it out in Florida before I made an offer outside of Ebay that was accepted and the car withdrawn from Ebay auction. The Ebay ad was inadequate in this situation.
mrmustang
Bill - When I get to the stage of buying a car through Ebay I will be heading in your direction to get educated. Croc, I bought the very first car list on Ebay, long before there was ever an Ebaymotors (when it was ebay.com/other), a 1976 MGB convertible out of Hanford, California (date: Oct-22-98), then sold the next 8 listed on Ebay (7 mustangs, 1 TR6) before anyone else ever listed another vehicle of any kind.....To say I've been around that arena/venue for a long time, and seen all sorts of patterns, is an understatement  Bill S. I have dealt with eBay for as long, and likely way longer. Assuming that you are the second high bid with a rating of 266, please do not go there. Most of my 827 positive ratings are on sales. My apologies for winning Robert's Birkin! Edited August 10, 2012 by JimmyHilton

As for the other car you were bidding on (the one we speak of above), yes, I have followed your bids there as well. As for feedback count, it is not the amount of feedback, but how it was attained :auto: Bill S.
speedwagon
it is always a crap shoot to some extent, I bought a s-1 that was listed on feebay, didn't sell but continued talking to seller and bought it sight unseen, seller was highly motivated and not dishonest, just confused and wanting out, price was fair, but knowing what I know today would have bought something else, but now kinda fond of the oddball. know what you want- use every thing you can to reduce the unknowns- and price it according to the unknowns- remember if it seems like too good of a deal then it likely is not a deal at all. there are crooks everywhere even on ebay. good place to get your involuntary sex. 86Sebring
I bought and sold quite a few cars trough Ebay. The potential issues of purchasing a vehicle unseen are obvious. Even a local person checking the car over for you might miss something. Sometimes you win, sometimes you loose your shirt... ha Ebay is great, tons of stuff shipped right to your door for better than retail price, sometimes incredible bargains. Craigslist is another good one
